Hi, can anyone tell me what size hook and type of wool to use. I am learning from u tube videos but only have double ply and a 4mm hook. I am really struggling to see the stiches. Would I be better with 4 ply and is the size of hook ok??

Please can anyone tell me how to make my links say whatever words I want them to instead of the wording on the address bar (as Penelope Penguin has done in post 479)?

Been trying for ages but not yet worked it out!

Write your words, then highlight them. Copy the url from the page you're linking to, then click on the bit to add a link (the little globe icon above the text box) and paste the url. Make sure that the http bit in the link box is also highlighted, otherwise you'll get http written twice in the link and it won't work.

    Hope that's clear enough!

I've had to copy and paste those instructions into Wordperfect so I can study them at a later date :rotfl:

Justamum, that makes me :rotfl:! I do the same.

I have a word doc on my desktop called HOW TO DO THINGS and I copy and paste all the helpful bits of computery info I pick up on here so that I can refer back to it as I have the memory of a gnat!

So you're not alone ( I suspect having kids addles your brain!):(

    Hi Julie,
I am fairly new to crochet myself, but for the blanket I'm on at the moment I'm using a 5mm hook, and Double Knit wool. The one before that,I used a 5.5mm ,but it made it a bit too open ,also with DK.
The 5mm makes the stitch easy to see,but if you are just doing squares to learn,or rows,I think you can experiment. If you were making a garment ,then using a different hook to what the pattern specified would alter the size.
I know Lucy on her Attic24 blog for her 'Teeny Tiny flowers 'post shows photos of the flowers done on different sizes.
I'm sure someone with more experience will be along in a bit.HTH

How about this stripey blanket tutorial?

Thankyou so much - gonna go to the charity shop tomorror to get some wool - they had lots of unused baby wool for £1 a ball. Sorry I didn't reply earlier - had to go to work:(
Thanx also Penny and Jenny - I'm spoilt for choice now!!!

Definitely. I used to be a temp secretary and had to learn umpteen word processing systems over the years. I never had to make notes on how to do any of them. I couldn't do that now.
