awww thank you for your kind words
This was my first crochet tutorial I have written, so I used a lot of the tricks Lucy uses in her tutorials - her tutorials are the best I've seen around.

I love the colours. Did you plan the colour scheme before or did it just 'evolve'? And what wool did you use and did you buy it online?
.
I thought the blanket would turn out just like one of Lucy's but it had a mind of its own
The colours I used in the border were (starting with the outer edge);
ultra marine 009
marine 008
cypress 007
emerald 022
parsley 020
avocado 019
gilt 032
tangerine 040
kiss 036
pomegranate 029
port 037
hydrangea 027
dahlia 042
for the squares I used all of the above plus
glade 021
tea rose 025
lavender 039
glacier 005
The last 3 are very pale colours which I reserved mainly for the centres of the squares.
Rowan pure wool DK
Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments :A OH said 'mmm very good'- where's the rolleyes smilie when you need it?0 -
I'm so cross!:(
I've been making a ripple stitch cushion and spent my whole lunch hour at work chatting away and crocheting at the same time, and was really pleased with how many rows I'd done. I've just picked it up to carry on and it looked a bit wrong and now I look closely I can see I made a mistake on my first lunch-hour row and I have to undo all of it back to that.
Grrr!:mad:Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Hi Everyone
First Ive got to say ive seen some of the things you have made and they are fantastic and its very daunting, I don't know how ill ever be that good!
Which brings me to my question I want to start crocheting and making lovely blankets and toys but I have no idea where to start ive never done anything like this I haven't had a family member around to teach me even knitting so I really have no clue how to get started on crochet, can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I know there is a new magazine out but no where by me has it and ive seen that it will be £2.99 a week and wondered if its worth it? Will that be my best way of learning?

You tube has lots of good videos that teach you how to knit and crochet.
The new magazine is very good, but don't know if I will buy all the issues. ( think their's going to be about 120 weekly issues)0 -

I've been teaching myself 'broomstick lace' at the weekend
http://blog.grittyknits.com/ViewEntry_broomsticklace.aspx
I'm finding it a bit of a faf although it does look pretty. I think it will turn into a pair of wristwarmers for me, couldn't possibly give them away as ther are too many mistakes
I'v decided that i am not going to add to my ever increasing stash until i've used most of it up (bet you have all heard that one before!)
If anyone has any ideas for some small quick projects (I've got a bit ADHD when it comes to bigger things, I'm in awe of the lovely blankets!) I'd appreciate any ideas. Not sure about arimigumi, seems a bit fiddly and could really do with ideas for males. i've always got loads of males to buy for Xmas and Birthdays, normally I manage to get some things in Boots sale 75% but I didn't get there until after lunch this year and there was not one male gift set left0 -
karmacookie, have a look on ravely, they have thousands of projects and most of them are quick projects0

Sorry for not replying sooner. I currently can't post links cos I'm an MSE newbiebut type in Australia crochet into google and go to the info tab and there you'll find some fab instructions....I print them off for folk ALL the time...
Hope that helps
