Me too Owens;) I think it's nice to have several things on the go so you don't get bored. The great thing about crochet is that it is so easy to put down and pick up again. It is also easy to make little things quickly.0

Not done any crochet/knitting for ages but got inspired by the threads and postings this week.
This is my first attempt at a ruffle scarf - have made a note to make it longer next time, but this is fine for my 11yr old dgd1:
ohh i like this , do u have the pattern or link ?
Thankyou0 -
owens 3116 - I think this is http://www.caron.com/projects/bliss/B5_ruffle_scarf.html
Ladykath posted it a few days ago, lots of us on Knit a square thread have been doing them for Christmas presents and they`re quick and easy apparently -I`ve been too busy knitting to try it but I`ll have a go when I get a chance.
Good luck with it. I think most folk have used about 160 chain if I remember correctly as the original number was a bit short, but maybe someone who has done it will come and tell you.
BTW you aren`t alone having several things on the go at once - I have 9 at the moment - butterfly me.
There are some variations of ruffle scarves here,

Can anyone make sense of these instructions for a scarf ?
Rnd 1 (RS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; working across opposite side of foundation ch, sc in each ch across, working 2 sc in last ch; join with sl st in first sc; turn – 282 sc.
ITs the hi-lighted bit i dont get :rolleyes:0 -

Here's how I would read it - If its not right could someone else help please.
Its a long scarf - but its actually constructed as a long oblong "round" with you stiching round and round rather than back and forth for the rows if that makes sense.
So you have chained up your foundation row and SC right along from right to left, done your "Multiples" to turn yourself around the corner and you are now going to turn the piece around 180 degrees and SC again from right to left using the bottom of the original chain foundation - you are gonig around in a long loop.
Think I've confused you even more - why is crochet so easy to explain when someone is sitting in front of you
Hope this makes sense to someone

Hi owens - if the pattern is for one of the ruffle/twirly/curly scarfs you could try posting your query on the Knit your square thread and someone there will probably be able to tell you.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Is there a way to starch an item made out of acrylic yarn? I'm in the process of crocheting the Mad Hatter's hat in full size (either child or adult, not sure yet) and I'd like it to be strong enough to wear...or at least not collapse
The only way I know of is for smaller items and that is to use hairspray
any tips or ideas
Edit: Not sure if it makes any difference but I'm using a much smaller sized hook than recommended for the yarn so it is quite tight as it is at the moment.0 -
