setmefree2 are you going to share your mortgage free news with family and friends?

I've heard it's not usually the best thing to do. They aren't always genuinely pleased for you.

    Payday!
Looking forward to this challenge update, i think we will come in as all paid up for the september update, if things continue as they are. So next month we will go down to 4 figures...
Pleased to be approaching the finish line as I'm sure you all are even if not clearing the mortgage, 3 years of strict financial commitment is tough :)
Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 17

nice gerbiljo hitting 4 figures next month

what this challenge does is make you try for a target---but you do make progress even if you dont hit it.

This is true: sometimes you need to step back and look at what you have achieved even if the target is not going to be reached. Every overpayment is an achievement and we should all feel like a success and definitely not a failure.

I know it's very funny isn't it? I have told my Dad and Mr setmefree2 has told his mum (and one sister who is also MF) but I'm wary of telling anyone else to be honest....

Can I just add that I'm looking forwards to the June update too. Taking off savings marked towards the mortgage, I should be sub-£10k after the third or fourth of June or whenever the mortgage payments / transfers clear.

Working though a LONG list of to-do items. Plan is to get the next chart pretty much ready to apply before I go away - we're away for a few days next week with it being half term...

So, keep those updates coming in.

Mortgage and debt free. Building up savings...
  • I will also be sub 10k when the mortgage payment clears early next month.

Hoping to clear completely by 12/12/12.

Couldn't have done it without this board (and the spreadsheets!). Was £107,000 at the start of this challenge and have ploughed every last penny / all savings into paying off the beast.

So a big 'THANKS' to all who post and especially FB / Maz for running the challenge
