• I could put in quite a healthy figure right now for the June update, but have to pay for some building work in early June so should probably wait for that...

Had to pay out £1000 from my yearly items saving account today to cover the costs for DH's car . £400+ for service and MOT, £250 for tax and then £325 to pay for the timing belt and water pump which have been booked in for 2 weeks time. He also needs a new window mechanism and a new door strap so that will be >£150 . My car is due it's MOT and tax at the end of this month too. It's scary, it really is. Once the mortgage is gone, we're upgrding our cars to newer cars with a lower tax liability. I quite fancy a £20 per year tax bill!
Hideous news tonight at work. Apparently 16 south west health trusts have joined a consortium to try and cut pay and anual leave for all staff and up the working hours. I've not been able to find much info about it but the RCN have issued a press release last week. Funny I had heard nothing about it since I was last in :(. The government spent ages sorting out the agenda for change and we've just had it all renegotiated. Now they want to do this across the southwest. Apparently they will dismiss and re-employ people to get them onto new T&C's. I don't know that I would actually want to reapply for my job though so if I get dismissed, they'd better have a watertight reason because I won't be taking it lying down.

Argh, having spent all of that money on DH's car yesterday, some KH hit it today. Massive scratch and dent all the way down the side of both doors and the wing. I think that if he manages to get them to own up to it and claim off their insurance, they'll probably write the car off. It will also increase our bills :( it's not even worth having insurance any more is it?

117 reporting in with June update. Monthly DD went out today, including newly increased OP.

Balance now at £62 220 - meaning we've (more than) reached our December target :D:j:j

Am hoping that we should be sub 54k come the Dec update - which'll be £13500 below our original (stretching) target:T Mind you, that's working on decent OPs over the next few months - and OH has plans for some £ :eek: house stuff between now and then.....

Had a feeling the next update for the chart is due soon and indeed it is :D. We now own 2/3 and a wee bit of our house :j:beer: and are on £32,707. Next target is 3/4 owned..... OH is itching to make another overpayment so it might come down a bit more before updating the chart but first I need to speak to H@lifax who are trying to reduce the monthly payment instead of crediting the OPs to effectively reduce the term :p

Just had the worst 6 weeks of my life. Started out with chest pains, got worse and started having pains down left arm, suspecting having a heart attack (age 39). Into A&E and tests were negative, performed an Exercise Tolerance Test ETT the following week and was given the all clear. However blood tests showed potential kidney problems, was estimated as having stage 3 chronic kidney disease!!. 5 weeks of blood tests, urine tests, 24 hr urine collection and eventually given the all clear on Fri 1st June. In that time lost 18+ pounds through worry, talk about a crash diet. Complete shock to the system, felt like someone had hit the pause button. Friends were saying I was not the same person, some could not believe the amount of weight I had lost. Life felt like it was on hold.....could not sleep, lost my appetite, even forgot about this goal of being mortgage free.

Now getting back on track........we are down to £6,390 however should have a regular mortgage payment come off before the June update.

:)
