Doh , we have an internet mortgage . I may need to remortgage to a high street lender in order to mark the occasion properly :). Or I could try' Hello, is that Egg mortgage redemptions? Well, you can't see me but I'm sitting here in a gown & high heels'........ hmmmm, maybe not.......

We will have sufficient funds in savings to pay off mortgage no.1 this year but we can't physically do it till the remortgage (i.e. mortgage no. 2) has been cleared. So mine will be a virtual celebration till I save up another 60k or so. Guess it will feel a bit flat, so I'll come on here & say 'Well, you can't see me but I'm sitting here in a gown & high heels' :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • LOL I now have a vision of you sat in a ballgown, on a grass verge outside some faceless office building with a couple of balloons and an expired party popper. Don't worry Gallygirl - if you want to party when the time comes am sure there will be people around to help you.....if not we can always do it virtually

I've managed to get the freehold on my next property for nothing, saving £5000 which I would have paid. That means I'm 3 months closer to 12/12/12 MFW date! March 2013 est. Come on I can do it just some more thrifting here and there. Surely end of next year is not out of reach yet!
  • We've had an offer on the house - 30% below market value!! I can hear some of your reactions from here - probably something like mine to begin with. However, trouble on the stairs is getting worse and worse, especially first thing in the morning. And don't even take to me about getting to the toilet upstairs in a hurry!!

So! We have seen a property that would do us nicely, both now and in future. Much smaller than ours but beautifully presented. Trouble is, we'll have less equity and the same mortgage. Buuut an easier time of it for me. Oh what a to do!

I know no-one else can make the decision for us but I would be interested to hear some thoughts?
:( Struggling too much wears a body out
  • Go for it! Life's too short to not to savour!! Life's also hard enough without extra burden of maintainance and mobility issues.
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......
  • Supagran health really does come a long way before money i would say if you can move to new home with no stress and is better for you getting about then go for it and once you are in your new home you can start overpaying the mortgage there :rotfl:
    £14, 500 to go
  • I'd go for it as well. No fun at all being in an unsuitable house with mobility problems, and if you find it hard now it won't be easier in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years. Better to have the house you need now.

Rubbish to not have a better deal, but life quality is worth more than money, and it is your life we are talking about.
