Excellent - can't beat a wee bit of sun just as the weather is turning here!

The recession is still biting pretty hard in Vegas. We had our usual three weeks in July and, whilst busy as normal at the weekends, it was dead through the week. We managed upgrades for most of our time there this year (the Monaco Suite at Monte Carlo for $67p/n being a particular highlight) and the drinks service was the best I've ever seen it. We'll be back (with family members in tow as promised) in July 2011 so here's hoping they've loosened the slots a wee bit before then as the gambling was pretty poor this year for me. Being shown up daily by my girlfriend has gone neither unnotice nor unrecounted since we got back!

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hi Gerbil,

It needs to come off yet mind! I turned 29 in July and my girlfriend is 29 in October so we're off to a decent start but there's a good bit of work to be done over the next few years. I think I work best with a goal to work towards so there's a bit of number crunching and proper scientific application to be done yet!

    Cheers,

    Billy

We're about to move house so are increasing our mortgage considerably :o

I'll miss out this month and then reset my figures and new target for the next update if that's ok.

    Thanks:)
  • Floxxie. Don't want to pry but why is the house being sold when you have kids? Don't be forced into doing anything by your other half. Seek GOOD legal advice and put up a bit of a fight to keep your kids housed in the family home until they have left or gone to work. Good luck.
    12/12/12 Lets party!

Hi all.. hope everyone's as well as can be..

just updated google docs with my qtrly update - not doing great as we've had to sort some money issues out the last few months for my dad.

I've now fixed my mortgage for two years which means i can't make large overpayments :( but i will be having a large (she says with fingers crossed) savings pot that I will pay in after the two years.

SO for challenge purposes I will show my mortgage balance less any savings!

Currently £75029 so just under £5K paid off since the start of the challenge, so still in the red but I am going to work hard next year to make up the shortfall!!

Looking forward to seeing the chart with everyone's achievements on!! :j

    bye for now

    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

    Number 21 reporting in.

    Balance now stands at £16577.

Planning on making just one more "standard payment" before clearing completely with a lump sum at end of Oct.
That would mean I achieve mortgage free before 40.

I'll then be having a large party..... for my 40th, not my MF status..... but I'll have an extra drink to celebrate that MF bit!

    Wow, isn't everyone doing well.
I can't believe how quickly time is flying by on this challenge! I had a surprise windfall and was able to make a £6000 overpayment, I did spend a little bit of money but put the majority straight into the mortgage (and out of temptation) I still don't think i'll be MF at the end of the challenge but will be a couple of years after! Mortgage is now at £33,000 so i'm really pleased with how its going. Just think the next update will be xmas ha ha ha

p.s. Big hugs to you floxxie
