I'm sorry but I am going to have to pull out of the challenge. My husband decided to have a mid-life crisis and leave me and the children yesterday. My priority now is to put the house on the market and then get the solicitor to make sure that I get some of the equity back.
Floxxie, I am so sorry to hear your news. You must feel devastated. I hope you manage to get things sorted out as smoothly as possible - and do let us know how you get on. Very best wishes to you and your LOs, QB0 -
Floxxie, I hope you get a good price for the house.
I have just put in my update I can't see anymore overpayments coming before the 12th, messed up my interest calculation and have a very annoying balance of £82197, no extra to go towards making the number more pleasant either! Heading for sub-80 next month, depending on other house issues.
Looking forward to the chartMortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 170 -

Busy over the last few days - finally sorted wills out (free from Martin's email a couple of months back) and, following extensive health checks, the new life insurance kicks in tomorrow so there's to be no dying today!
Cheers,
Billy (#85)
Hey Billy - congratulations on the no dying today, that kind of puts getting the mortgage paid early back in it's box !!!:rotfl:

Well done everyone, there seems to be some fantastic results being achieved.
I have just paid the magnificent sum of £27.79 as an additional payment which has come from my penny jar. My daughter had less qualms than me about paying it into my account !RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

The good news is I have done my update - the bad news is that I have gone slightly backwards since the last chart due to a remortgage which came through today
All my debt is now in my mortgage but as it is an offset mortgage I am keeping the money owing on my 0% cards in the offset until the 0% deal ends so I get the full benefit of my current 0% deals but won't be looking for any new ones when they expire and no more transfer fees :j
Not scheduled to make any major repayments before next year now I just want a simpler life with no hassles about deals expiring I will keep as much as possible in my offset account especially as my major income is only paid twice a year although how I am actually going to work out how much is "real" offset and how much is future expenditure lodging there temporarily I am not sure so that I can give accurate updates I will have to think about that one.
No idea if I will get any where near my target have had a difficult few months on a personal front and being mortgage free has slipped a bit on the agenda as I have allowed more freedom to actually enjoy life you never know how long you have got
Looking forward to the new chart

Hi DT
I run a spreadsheet for the offset, with multiple columns for each 'pot' of money within - my savings, OH savings, money that could go to an ISA, and house renovations - then I only include my own savings plus the ISA in my figures below, but it's all offset against the mortgage. Simples!
I agree on the balance of mortgage-free questing and living life for today - all one-sided is no good either way.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
Floxxie - hugs to you. Ny husband did the same thing earlier this year and it completely threw me, but I am starting to get myself together again and I believe that I am a stronger person for it, and I truly hope you will be too xx
I have updated my challenge - current mortgage balance £174990.85......which still shows me in the green zone I think, so given all things uncontrollable in life, I am happy with that!
