i've decided to reduce some of my overpayments to take out a cash ISA. have psychologically been against this in the past but the promise of +3 about the base rate for 12 months is too good to ignore. especially as my mortgage is only base rate +0.5. i might even take one out in my OH's name and take some money out of the mortage savings pot.

well i applied online for the ISA. they are sending out info in the post. in that time i've changed my mind again!!! did the maths and think even though it is a 3 percent interest difference given it is only for ISA allowance it will work out at just over 100 quid saving (200 if i maxed out OH's allowance). so all in all i've decided to stick to the original plan and pay more into the mortgage. going to try to update now as i know the overpayments i'll have hit by d-day.

    good luck everyone!

I've updated my total (even though the payment hasn't gone through yet) for March on the spreadsheet (not my sig). So I'm on track for reaching my target I think. I do have an extra £600 to find before the end of the challenge if I'm to make my less that 29K target...but that's over the whole period of the challenge. I'll sort that bit out nearer the time.

Number 115 reporting, I have made my bulk overpayment this month from my salary to get to the under 100k mark!
I have my mortgage payment coming out monday and will adjust the odd then to get my final total for submission for the chart of £99150.
That will be it from me then unless I get a windfall:rotfl: We paid a bit extra last month which was handy this month as it allowed us to be on target as we had a few extra expenses this month and otherwise would of been slightly behind.
    Good luck everyone:T

  • Just catching up on the thread.

I've overpaid very very little. :( And as my mortgage is interest only I haven't even got any repayments to add. Looks like it might only be about £500 by the time updates are due. I'm throwing money at my debts first and they are due to be cleared by May. So there should be more to report by the end of the second quarter.

My hubby in work at the moment. (He does contract work very intermittently  ) He's due to finish at the end of March so probably back to skint street then, but we'll see.

Well done everyone on your overpayments. It really is inspiring to read all your posts.

And Hypno, big hugs to you.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
