Hello All, A very rubbish update from us - we haven't overpaid at all this quarter! :(:(:(

Still yet to find full time work, but I am working on it. As soon as we're in a position to over pay we will and try to catch up with ourselves. Fingers crossed ;)

Well done everyone though, you're all doing brilliantly!

Raini, sorry to hear that things aren't going great but staying focused on your ultimate goal probably means that you are being frugal with what you have got and I'm sure you're coping better than most if you're still on here.

Glad to see that you are doing a great cheerleading job even though you aren't having the best of times. Hang in there, everything turns around eventually. As a wise man ( my father lol) always says, "It's a long road that has no turning"

Working on being frugal - all dinners are from the freezer this week! :p I like that saying,. It'll all work out in the end I know - just having to wait for the good bit but hey ho! There's no light without the dark & all that. We could be a lot worse off so not going to complain - much anyway!
Thank you for the support - means a lot :)

  • Made my first o/p of £500 this week!!! Really pleased. Still waiting to hear if my contract wil be extended after March - hope so as I'll be able to continue making o/ps. Bad news - got a leaky pipe which has caused a bit of damage in bathroom but fingers crossed that Dad can fix it tomorrow (for the cost of a takeaway!)
  • Firstly to send Hypno big hug. I am also better at practical rather than emotional stuff...

Made Feb overpayment today of £1000, feels good!
Not too sure how to update now as got confused with charts and my Jan overpayment not showing on the original chart anymore... I guess it will be obvious nearer to the march deadline.

    Hi PB,
The preferred update method is via the update form, which is here:
    http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dGtzMTdvS1VnNXUwakpPc3NjZzRHMVE6MA

You can bookmark this for use throughout the challenge as it's address should not change.

Reason why form is preferred method is that since I last logged on to MSE last night, I've already got 5 PM's this morning. With a PM box limit of 50 items, I can see this becoming full quite quickly.

Don't need monthly updates for this challenge - perhaps you're getting comfused with the MFW2010 challenge? I probably spotted and promptly ignored it.

  • With our first chart just around the corner, I've had a look at people in this challenge without an objective and I think they are as follows:
    • willow girl
    • jnielow
    • emma_nottingham
    • Frugal Fox
    • Optimisticpair
    • yam
    • madonsaving
    • Jenna
    • Hurdler
Due to the number of people in the challenge, it may be that your original objective was "lost" in the PM's and updates that were flying around.

I've just sent a private message (PM) to each of you asking if you have an objective / would you like to still be in the challenge?

If you can provide an objective, I'll happily add you to post #1 and the chart data.

    Thanks,
    Financial Bliss / Maz123.

Pm sent. I've suggested that we be removed from the list if the target of reducing our mortgage from 71k (offset mortgage) to whatever we can manage over the next 3 years is not "acceptable".

As part of the house renovation we took out a temporary loan for urgent updating and adding to the central heating in good faith that a debt owed to us would be repaid. Due to the utter refusal to repay the debt to us, and it's a case of they don't want to repay rather than cannot pay, we are having to write it off. I am loathe to take money out of the emergency fund to pay off our "temporary" loan in case there's a need for it.

In line with the princples of MSE I need to keep our emergency fund intact and the higher cost of interest loan needs settling in full before we overpay.

Just want to say well done to everyone who has kept in, especially those who have found it difficult and to those delayed by unavoidable circumstances take heart and remember we will all reach our goals. We'll see you on a future challenge until we all get our names in the Mortgage Free Hall of Fame.
    No longer half of Optimisticpair
