I would keep hold of the keys and get the person picking the bus up to come to your house for the keys that was he cant accuse you of having left the keys in it and it having been stolen!Weight Loss - 102lb0

You could also offer to post him the key, but do so recorded.
Great thread!
Some good points there. He left the key in the bus when he left it - and they havnt been taken out of it since. Might sound daft but things dont get nicked here. Only time i have locked my car in the last year while at the house is when i was trying to work out if it has an alarm! Only lock my house when i go away for the night......Not telling you where i live! lol!
When someone comes to get it they wont be able to take it away without us watching - its outside the front windows!
See what happens eh!0 -
Good luck, Code-a-holic.sarahlouise210 wrote:Have you considered that it may not just have been the bridge that he crashed into ?? Have you heard about any accidents ?? He may have crashed into a car..then the bridge..or worse a person. He is obviously panicking big time about something..is he worrying about points? Has he hurt someone.. it was not insured I take it ? As you did not notice initially I am guessing the damage is not catastrophic .. he could have put it down to experience and had it mended..he put a lot of effort into getting the van. Me thinks there is more to this story .. you say it was only up the road.. why did he take several hours to come back. He also knew your name - could he have given your name as being the driver ??????? shivers !0

He could easily be worried assuming it was just the bridge he crashed into. I doubt there's anything more sinister going on. If another vehicle or pedestrian were involved, he could try to say it was their fault, but there's really no excuse for crashing into a stationary object, and the police in my area will almost always charge drivers who do. I know someone who got 6 penalty points for a minor bump into a parked car in a car park, so if this guy already has a few points he'll want to avoid any possible charges. As well as driving without due care and attention, it's possible he might have told a porky about the insurance; also, is the vehicle big enough to require an HGV licence? Maybe he's not really a lorry driver.
No need for special license to drive this - but it is big! but a lorry driver should be used to much larger vehicles so would never misjudge the size so much that he hits the side of a bridge...in my opinion!
I dont think poilce are so strict here.....i crashed my car in to a wall (i was avoiding a rabbit - doh!) and blocked the road (quite farm road) for the night. called police right after accident - they had to come cos i neded a ambulance....but they didnt bat an eyelid - just wanted to make sure i was ok! Although where he's from he may not have known this about our poilce force so would have panicked....we'll never know! lol0 -
Looks like he panicked after having a drive of it and thought sod this and dumped it back at yours.0

If you look at the ebay link, it says where you live roughly. Would not take that long to look for a house with a bus parked outside!NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Update for you - the bus was due to be picked up today and tomorow. Just had a phone call from a local garage saying they will be picking it up in a hour to be tested in the morning.
WHAT ON EARTH!
Obviously he's having it tested to try and confirm this 'fault' he goes on about. We have no reason to believe ther was any fault.
But what would happen if this tester sems to think there is. Its sold with no warnaty and sold as sen - surely they cant come back claiming all sorts. Anyway - he gave it a good scrape while driving and it took him 3 hrs to drive 30mins - maybe he caused a fault.
Worried now - reassurance needed - please!0 -
he hasnt got a leg to stand on, once the bus is moved out of your drive close the gate behind them!! Then IF they return it later you can say to them "Sorry you're not parking that on my land" then that really is the end of it. You have sold a van as seen, and it is no longer registered to you and is no longer on your property.
End of.

Hoped someone would tell me that!
It's been one long drama and im glads to se the back of the bus - and it isnt even mine or on my land - my dad owes me a babysitting duty after all this!0 -
lol!
Has the van been moved off your driveway now?
If so i guess you can have an easy nights sleep, (until the kids wake you up!)
Whatever you do though don't allow that bus to come within a mile of your house again. Its really not your problem any more.
One more thing, spend the £810 on a holiday to forget about this whole thingCome to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0
