  • As the camper is on private property, the Police or council will not move it.

There are three things you can do

    1) Phone this guy and tell him you will be charging him storage of the camper, and if it not removed after a reasonable period of time (2 weeks or so), you will dispose of the vehicle and he will be charged for that.

2)Contact a solicitor and ask them to send him a letter requiring him to remove the vehicle immediately. Solicitor letter about £20-£30.

3)If there is a public road nearby the van could end up on it, parked safely of course, then the Police/council would have to move it. Before they would do this though they would contact the registered owner. I would suggest that the Police National Computer would still show you as the registered owner and enquiries would be made with you. If the Police come knocking your door, give the details of the person that you sold it to, show the receipt of sale and they would then have to contact them before removal.

(Just to point out, the following is an attempt at humour, do not take this seriously!!!!)

Alternatively you could trigger every GATSO speed camera in the area, then dump the camper. Thus the new owner would get a number of speeding fines, and have to pay for the removal of his camper! ;)

If the mad buyer is on the log book as the new owner then the PNC will show that too.

Id definitely be tempted to move it off your property (to allow access to whatever it may be blocking ;) ) Then phone & complain about it being in the street. Enquiries will then be made with the new keeper in relation to moving it or it being scrapped on his behalf

You say the V5 has turned up in his name? How do you know? Is it still registered as your address? I'm puzzled.

If it's registered at they buyer's address, he will be getting RFL reminders and an automatic fine soon. They don't need tos ee the vehicle to send a fine noe. Unless he's SORNed it of course.

Try posting your problem on https://www.honestjohn.co.uk

They like a laugh on there (at the buyer, not you).

This one is worthy of the newspapers!!

Ok - need some help with this!
I sold a bus which had been converted to a camper on behalf of my dad.
Sold it for £810 to a guy in Inverness. We live in west wales so bit of a treck for him to collect! Anyway, he did. Flew to bristol then train to us. A day travelling. Saw the bus, paid in cash, signed log book and drove away. hours later he brought it back to my dads and said he wanted a refund. The buyer would not give an explanation why so my dad said no. THe buyer then asked for a lift to train station and he went home. Leaving the bus behind and the money. In the morning my dad then went to move the bus and saw that this buyer had scraped it down the side and there was missing trim. After a drive up the road, dad found he had crashed in to a bridge........trim was lying on the road! The buyer never said a word. This buyer is demanding his money back saying we sold the bus with a fault. He wont say what the fault is! the logbook has no arrived back with him in his wifes name. We cant do a refund without meeting up and exchanging logbook - and he wont come back. Wont give a refund as he crashed it and will need to be prepared. This bus is his property parked on my dads drive - bit lost as to what to do. It has no tax so tempted to put it in a local car park and let the council take it away. This buyer has threatened to do a ebay claim but ebay have already told me that it is out of their hands - so he cant ruin my 100% feedback with a claim!
    Any ideas?!

In my eyes even if he says there was something wrong (other than damage he done) he should have test drove it first. By signing the log book he completed the sale and was happy with the bus.

How on earth can he do an e-bay claim when he paid cash on collection??

Also I think he can still leave feedback but your reply would obviously state that he crashed it then wanted a refund.

the camper u sold was on a strictly sold as seen basis,it was up to the buyer to check that everything was ok before he paid any money or signed the log book therefore he hasnt got a leg to stand on.this is a private sale so u dont have to provide a warrenty:rolleyes:

as said just e mail or phone him and say unless he removes the vehicle from your property within the next week you will and will inform the council about an abandoned vehicle and let them deal with it.then the balls in his court.
