Warning - The Credit People

I have been phoned from a website, creditproblemsnoproblem.co.uk site by a mobile number. I have applied for a £2000 loan, and they will send forms out tomorrow. All I have to do is sign and send it back to them, and the £2000 will be apparently in my bank account this Tuesday?.
I then did a google web-search to check this company out, and maybe I should have done this before hand. Then I found this forum out with lots of people who may have been conned. Am I to join the list?
I phoned the mobile number back, the same polite spoken gentleman answers I ask for confirmation that I am not being asked to phone a premium number, and that if i am not successful with this loan will i get a refund. He then says as long as i am not bankrupt everything should be ok.
I then asked him about all the people on this forum that has been conned, and he said they may have lied on their application form etc..
I am now not 100% convinced, and will let you know how things get on with obtaining this guaranteed £2000 loan.

Don't want to dampen things Patrick but you have been conned. They have told you the exact same things they told me, I too foolishly googled them after paying them & found this forum, rang them straight back voicing my concerns & got the same reply as you. Did they also say "we've been in business for 9 years so we can't be dodgy" or something similar?!
No one has lied on their application forms, we've just been conned into thinking we've got a loan when we haven't. At best they'll send you a form for FLM loans where you need a guarantor [TEXT DELETED].
I'd get it in writing to them you want your money back NOW & start the long drawn out process of getting a refund from these scam artists.
Good Luck!0 -
AppleForceOne - you should be 100% convinced about one thing..... you have been conned.
Why in the WORLD would you choose to do business with someone ringing you:- Out of the blue
- From a mobile phone
- Who makes out they are your Saviour
For your own sake, stop calling the number, you will pay much more than you have already lost waiting on hold, emails will be deleted in seconds
Do everything in writing, posted recorded delivery0 -

The number I phoned was a mobile number, not a premium number..
Thanks for your advice and all I can say is, yes of course your right, what an idiot I am. I will do everything I can to close this website down and like other users above I will also contact BBC's Watchdog within the week.0 -
Dear Concerned Individuals,
I have phoned the number 0844 5449290, and waited for an answer approx 17minutes. I spoke to a female who appeared polite and confirmed if I write a letter to request the refund, £49.50 this will be honoured.
I have also contacted the OFT / The Office of fair trading and they have given me a reference number regarding taking this further if necessary. By law the credit broker, in this case 'The Credit People" can take a £5 admin fee and all letters should be send by 'Recorded Delivery.'
The £44.50 can be refunded due to myself not going ahead with the required loan. This can also be the case for any individual that has been unsuccessful in ascertaining a loan from The Credit Broker.
The credit People's Address is:
The Credit People
Queensgate House
Exeter EX4 3SR
I will let you know as soon as any developments are evident regarding ascertaining this refund. The OFT have also said that companies like this don't expect customers to request in writing for a refund, as most customers write-off this fee as they don't think legally they have the right to request it back.
My advice is write them a letter, and send it recorded delivery requesting a full refund. If they don't refund you, contact the OFT on 020 7211 8000. They will contact their local Trading Standards Department.
Regards,
MR P O'Neil0 -
You'll need to send at least 3 recorded letters before they even acknowledge they're there - even though I've had proof of delivery. Also they have now set a re-direct onto that address, my last one was re-directed & took 7 days to arrive. Got there today - another proof of delivery, am expecting another denial now.
I feel a call to the OFT coming on!
UPDATE - Just spoke to them & they are finally acknowledging a letter & they said a refund was processed on 2nd Dec so should be showing in my account in the next few days. Not holding my breath we'll see if it appears, but another step closer to getting my money I think0 -

Please read if you have had or are about to have any dealings with 'the credit people' as mentioned in this forum.
I rang the credit people this week to apply for a Personal loan after just being refused elsewhere. I was dealing with a person straight away who took the amount I wished to borrow, how long for, the loan purpose, my employment status, was I a homeowner.. and any ccjs bankrupt etc... After these handful of questions I was put on hold for 1 minute.
The silence was broken by ... good news you have been accepted by a lender at 17.9%apr .. I was happy with this so asked what happened next.
The rep told me that If I payed the 49.50 fee the loan would be GUARANTEED IN MY BANK ACCOUNT in 5 days time.... all I had to do was sign a form which I would receive the following day of the call..... At this point I was very sceptical, and I told the rep this.. He said not to worry as they specialised in helping people 'like me' that had problems getting credit.
I asked If he would need proof of income etc. he said they had all they needed, I asked about a credit check... he said he had done this... all was fine just sign 'the form' and get the money paid in GUARANTEED the word he used.
I told him I didnt understand how he could promise all this and he gave a line about the large group of lenders they use etc. experts in thebusiness 9 years etc.
I thought this was soooo dodgy but thought Il give it a go for £50 a bit of a gamble why not?
To cut to the chase I recieved my letter from them today... It consisted of one very unproffessional letter that looked like someone sitting at home had printed off with theyre low ink printer. no letter head or logo or mention of FSA etc.
One leaflet, mostly filled in with the info Id already given completed handwritten by someone not printed.
And another couple of forms that look like early stage data capture asking the same questions again and questions about my property value etc.
The money is to be in my account in a couple of days? so wheres my loan agreement?
I rang today to discuss this with the rep Id dealt with ... he wasnt available .. I was told to ring customer services but they are closed until monday. I cheked my credit report on Experian, no check was done!!!!!
I think whats happening here is this company like others who depend on the referral of loans are suffering due to the restriction of lending to consumers.
They have obviously been told to get what they can from us before the go bust and deal with the consequences .. if any later .. I cant ring anywhere for advice today as its saturday. If anyone wants to discuss this with me Id be very keen to do so.... these crooks must be stopped!!!!
i have a recent address and phone number for these so called people--
queensgate house
exeter
ex4 3sr
tel 08445444532 08445444010
08445449290
hope this helps everyone!:o:j0 -
Hello,
I have sent The Credit People 3 letters now, I have just received a letter from David Williams but no mention of a refund. I am going to send another letter to them tomorrow, recorded delivery, quoting the info that consumer direct have given me about the £5 maximum charge for finding people a loan plus I will let them know that I have contacted the Financial Ombudsman and Watchdog and that I'm going to contact ITV News, The Sun and any one else who will listen! They have robbed us all with this 'so called' administration fee!0 -
You need to write and complain to them. Don't worry about Recorded Deliver but get proof of posting (free from the Post Office). The address is

That is the legal name of the company and its registered address (according to its entry in the register of consumer credit licence holders.
Explain your complaint then add the following words:
I have been told that, under the Consumer Credit Act 2006, you are required to acknowledge my complaint promptly and provide me with a copy of your written complaints procedure.
My complaint must be investigated fairly and impartially and you must issue a final response to me, including any proposals for putting matters right, within eight weeks of receipt of this letter, which will be deemed to have been received two working days after it was posted (I will have proof of posting).
In your response you must tell me of my right to take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service if I remain dissatisfied and provide me with a copy of a booklet entitled "Your Complaint And The Ombudsman", published by the Financial Ombudsman Service. You must provide me with an original, not a photocopy.
You may not charge me for investigating my complaint and, if you do not issue a final response within eight weeks I may ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to investigate without further reference to you.
Any award made by the Financial Ombudsman Service against you will be legally binding.
I look forward to receiving your proposals to settle this matter and a copy of the booklet.0 -
