Hey I got scammed too, I drive around the country for a living and am very tempted to stop by with my credit report to ask when they were supposed to have check me out for a loan as they would need to do this before credit searching, also I think it would be helpful if a recording as made of their promise of the funds in 3 working days and confront them.
Whos in?0 -

I know this thread is quite old, but I would like to comment anyway being a recent scam-ee. Unfortunately some people very close to me decided to run up some large bills on catalogues in my name, into the mid hundreds for both and when they realised they could not pay it all in one whack, they arranged to pay £5 a month to both. Who can work out how long that would take to pay off?!?! Realising my credit rating is the lowest of the low, I decided to try and get a loan to pay them off in full and take the debt on myself, so i can get a mortgage one day and was advised of The Credit People by a very close friend. I called, and stupidly paid the £49.50 to receive my paperwork, although did you know its only actually £44.50, the extra £5 is a fee for if you pay by bank transfer, but i didnt actually receive the option NOT to pay by bank transfer. A small thing but adds fuel to the fire. So i send off the paperwork, and the 5 day waiting period for the money to be paid into my account turned into 10, and then I get a letter saying to call the Finance Direct people on a premium rate number. Luckily i got angry at the fact that The Credit People had already approved my loan to me but then were shipping me off to another company so i did not call, but decided to read up about them on the Net. And guess what i stumbled across, but this forum!
Unfortunately it was too late for my close friend who had reccommended the Credit People, she had received her letter and called them already but now she is devastated because she was counting on a loan to get her to America to see her family before one of them goes out to the Gulf with the Army.
I am more than annoyed that I went to this company for help, even told them my sob story and they still scammed me. I am looking into getting my money back, reading below i know this is may not be possible but what I am more worried about is the fact these people have all my personal details, along with my bank details! Is there any way I can get them to delete them? but then how would i know for sure its been done?
I feel so infuriated that you think these people are there to help you, when actually all they want is money you dont really have! How anyone could be a part of this, and still be able to sleep at night is beyond me! They must get paid a hefty whack, or just have no morals! If anyone could offer help on my above problem I would be grateful.0 -
i wish i had seen this last week, as i too have been scamed by these people!! they promised me the money and said it was garunteed so i gave the garage the goahead to fix my car and now i find out i was turned down for the loan and now have no car as the garage are keeping it till i pay them!! and yet im still out of pocket 49.50, how do these people get away with it!!0

I wish both myself and my other half done some investigating BEFORE seeing this site and parting with £49.50 to pay these cowboys!
I have read through all the posts and EXACTLY the same happened to my partner, Craig. The most astonishing fact of the tale is his mum's financial advisor gave him their number!!!! (To which I have told Craig to ensure he does NOT give this out anymore to any clients who maybe struggling with being accepted for credit).
The story is so similar to that of others, he rang and went through all the normal questions a loan appplication would contain, was put on hold for a couple of minutes to which he was then told that he had been accepted for the £4000 loan with an APR of 17.9%. All he had to do was to sign the form that they would be sending to him first class the next day, return it back and the money would be GUARANTEED to be in his bank on the Friday. He was quite taken back by the speediness of the transfer so asked again if they could guarantee that this would be the case, because if so, he would borrow the money from his mum on the strength of it. They said Yes we can GUARANTEE it will be in your bank account on Friday. Good job he didn't borrow the money though as when the 'form' came through, along with it came a full application form and rather dodgy looking letter. I started to smell a rat with it so before the forms went back I googled The Credit People and found all these posts.
I think it is disgusting that these people are preying on those that have bad credit and are struggling with finances as it is, as they build hopes up for people only to have them shattered.
We will try and get the £49.50 back from these con artists, and just put this terrible terrible mistake down to experience.0 -

Please read if you have had or are about to have any dealings with 'the credit people' as mentioned in this forum.
I rang the credit people this week to apply for a Personal loan after just being refused elsewhere. I was dealing with a person straight away who took the amount I wished to borrow, how long for, the loan purpose, my employment status, was I a homeowner.. and any ccjs bankrupt etc... After these handful of questions I was put on hold for 1 minute.
The silence was broken by ... good news you have been accepted by a lender at 17.9%apr .. I was happy with this so asked what happened next.
The rep told me that If I payed the 49.50 fee the loan would be GUARANTEED IN MY BANK ACCOUNT in 5 days time.... all I had to do was sign a form which I would receive the following day of the call..... At this point I was very sceptical, and I told the rep this.. He said not to worry as they specialised in helping people 'like me' that had problems getting credit.
I asked If he would need proof of income etc. he said they had all they needed, I asked about a credit check... he said he had done this... all was fine just sign 'the form' and get the money paid in GUARANTEED the word he used.
I told him I didnt understand how he could promise all this and he gave a line about the large group of lenders they use etc. experts in thebusiness 9 years etc.
I thought this was soooo dodgy but thought Il give it a go for £50 a bit of a gamble why not?
To cut to the chase I recieved my letter from them today... It consisted of one very unproffessional letter that looked like someone sitting at home had printed off with theyre low ink printer. no letter head or logo or mention of FSA etc.
One leaflet, mostly filled in with the info Id already given completed handwritten by someone not printed.
And another couple of forms that look like early stage data capture asking the same questions again and questions about my property value etc.
The money is to be in my account in a couple of days? so wheres my loan agreement?
I rang today to discuss this with the rep Id dealt with ... he wasnt available .. I was told to ring customer services but they are closed until monday. I cheked my credit report on Experian, no check was done!!!!!
I think whats happening here is this company like others who depend on the referral of loans are suffering due to the restriction of lending to consumers.
They have obviously been told to get what they can from us before the go bust and deal with the consequences .. if any later .. I cant ring anywhere for advice today as its saturday. If anyone wants to discuss this with me Id be very keen to do so.... these crooks must be stopped!!!!0 -
