Warning - The Credit People

WARNING -WARNING - WARNING

The Credit People, TBC House, Cavalier Road, Heathfield, Newton Abbot, TQ12 6TZ, 08701118452

If while searching the internet for a loan you should happen to come accross CREDIT PROBLEMS, NO PROBLEMS, direct away from the page as soon as possible because this so called company is a scam and will quite happily take you for a ride, as i have just found out. After paying out nearly £50 pounds on administartion costs and completing various application forms i was told that the loan would be in the bank in a week. After 7 weeks, i recieved a letter stating that a company called CASH FINANCE DIRECT would be dealing with my application, and all i needed to do was call them at a premium rate of £1.50 per min, for 20 mins. I would like to add at this point i did not make the mistake of contacted them, thank god. All i have had from the start of this transaction is lies, and i hope after my report to the OFT the company will be shut down. Another company trying to scam people who need help out of money.

Just wanted to warn people off this company, obviously you can make your mind up, but some real truths about organisations always helps in the decision making progress.

Happy New Year to all:beer:

They have a cheek to call themselves people !!! Took all the details from them and as I was shall we say desperate, I fell for it, I have asked them for my money back and shall pursue this until the end, also contacted the OFT, wrote a letter, plus email to them in regards this cowboy company, praying on the vulnerable and desperate, they should be ashamed of themselves, have some of there names but dont know if your allowed to say on here, but the OFT have them all anyways, hopefully with more people logging onto this website and reading my mistakes it will prevent anyone else being dubbed ?? Heres hoping ??

  • I too have been stung by The Credit People, I asked that I be able to consider their proposal prior to payment being taken from my account ie. search the net for some feedback on them which although sparse all say don't touch them with a barge pole. However, they ignored this and took the fee of £44.50. Every e-mail I have been sent demanding a refund has been greeted with please call our customer services on 0870 ... which I have tried on numerous occasions over the last few days to get through on with no success ... I finally got through today to be told you will need to write to us ... I asked for an e-mail address and I would do so, to be told no we don't have an e-mail for you to contact, you will need to write a letter. Where will that leave me? it will take weeks for me to get a refund and if I am honest the reasoning for contacting them in the first place was because of being low of funds, £44.50 would come in handy at the moment. I was less than pleasant with the girl I spoke to and advised I would be going to OFT, I feel like demanding interest on the payment, i will not be filling out the forms they sent me as they have not provided any service to me at all as I didn't want to use them in the first place, it's sooo infuriating.

I was also stung by Advantage but using Blagger.com's advice and e-mail addresses have received my money back with no issue at all. This however, seems to be a different matter entirely, I am very very unhappy and have decided to stop looking for a loan because there are far too many con artists out there. It's absolutely ridiculous!!!

DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, THEY ARE PRAYING ON DESPERATE PEOPLE

    Hi there,
Just been contacted by the credit people reference return of my so called admin fee, thought I was wasting my time but have had it credited to my account, well so they say, ill let you know, fortunately my partner is a lawyer and got so annoyed that i seem to have been duped that was prepared to start court action if they didnt cough up. Also contacted the OFT reference them to make sure that no-one else gets caught up, the fact is that people all over this country who are in financial difficulties, as i am at the moment are being prayed on by thousands of companies promising the earth and delivering nothing by misery on top of all the debts they are trying to sort out, contact your MP's write to the Prime Minister the oft, consumer direct, everyone you can think of with as much information you can gather about these companies to rid our society of these parasites. sorry ranting on again lol. Hope you get your money back, by the way i emailed them on there email address at the bottom on there website, give it a bash, hope this is of some help to you out there in cyber land. Power to the people brother, wee bit of Tommy Sheridan there !!!
  • Its too late, the credit people have already taken the £49 out of my account and i have posted the agreement forms back today...
After reading this forum,i decided to give them a ring and told them what ide just read ect. she reassured me,saying that they have been established for 9years and that she would look into it and check out this website. I reminded her that i have a reciept from them and that the details of my £49 being taken from my bank account by them is all in the system ect. Again, she assured me that it was not a scam and that she could understand where i was coming from. anyway...watch this space! I will report back on this forum in a weeks time to let you know if or not i receive me loan.

Please read if you have had or are about to have any dealings with 'the credit people' as mentioned in this forum.

I rang the credit people this week to apply for a Personal loan after just being refused elsewhere. I was dealing with a person straight away who took the amount I wished to borrow, how long for, the loan purpose, my employment status, was I a homeowner.. and any ccjs bankrupt etc... After these handful of questions I was put on hold for 1 minute.

The silence was broken by ... good news you have been accepted by a lender at 17.9%apr .. I was happy with this so asked what happened next.

The rep told me that If I payed the 49.50 fee the loan would be GUARANTEED IN MY BANK ACCOUNT in 5 days time.... all I had to do was sign a form which I would receive the following day of the call..... At this point I was very sceptical, and I told the rep this.. He said not to worry as they specialised in helping people 'like me' that had problems getting credit.

I asked If he would need proof of income etc. he said they had all they needed, I asked about a credit check... he said he had done this... all was fine just sign 'the form' and get the money paid in GUARANTEED the word he used.
I told him I didnt understand how he could promise all this and he gave a line about the large group of lenders they use etc. experts in thebusiness 9 years etc.

I thought this was soooo dodgy but thought Il give it a go for £50 a bit of a gamble why not?

To cut to the chase I recieved my letter from them today... It consisted of one very unproffessional letter that looked like someone sitting at home had printed off with theyre low ink printer. no letter head or logo or mention of FSA etc.
One leaflet, mostly filled in with the info Id already given completed handwritten by someone not printed.
And another couple of forms that look like early stage data capture asking the same questions again and questions about my property value etc.

The money is to be in my account in a couple of days? so wheres my loan agreement?

I rang today to discuss this with the rep Id dealt with ... he wasnt available .. I was told to ring customer services but they are closed until monday. I cheked my credit report on Experian, no check was done!!!!!

I think whats happening here is this company like others who depend on the referral of loans are suffering due to the restriction of lending to consumers.
They have obviously been told to get what they can from us before the go bust and deal with the consequences .. if any later .. I cant ring anywhere for advice today as its saturday. If anyone wants to discuss this with me Id be very keen to do so.... these crooks must be stopped!!!!

Their local Trading Standards Office needs to be alerted to this.

    It used to be:

Devon County Council Trading Standards Service

If that doesn't work, go through Consumer Direct 08454 040506
  • I cant beleive I only found this forum AFTER I applied to THE CREDIT PEOPLE!

I applied for my loan online and within MINUTES someone called me back. I was a bit dubious to start with, as he was calling from a mobile phone! He said this was due to the fact that their lines were down.

He took a few details from me and went off to do a "credit check"

After 2 minutes he came back on the line and told me I was accepted and that I was GUARANTEED the money in 3 working days AFTER I had received, signed and returned the loan agreement.

The next day, my agreement arrived. But it was just a leaflet with a handwritten application (filled in my the man I spoke to) with all my details on. Also, another application form (No Loan Agreement OR Direct Debit form!!)
I filled out the form, signed and dated everything and returned it. I then waited four days but still NO MONEY in my account!

I then called the 0870 number and asked if there was a problem. They told me that my form was not correctly filled in, and they were returning it.

After it arrived, It turned out I'd missed a question and I completed it and returned the form once again! That was 2 days ago. Now I have reat the comments on this forum, I felt I should at least try them again. So I just called the 0870 number and It puts me in a cue and cuts me off! So I rang the freephone number, and was greeted by the rudest woman EVER! I told her that I had heard the company was a scam, and that the stories I had heard about them were very similar to what was happening with MY application. She said "If you are saying all this, just because you dont want to pay to call the customer services number, then I suggest you put it in writing, the address is on our website!"
This INFURIATED me!! And I asked if she could tell me whether or not I was definately GUARANTEED the loan, and she said "If you paid the fee, you are guaranteed the loan!" And then she went on to say that the company was established and had ben for 9 years!! It seems this is a popular line for these people. They have obviously been told to say this as they are getting many complaints. I feel sick and very angry with myself for falling for this SCAM!! I should have gone with my gut-instinct and not paid them the money. I urge you NOT to go near these people!!!!
