Like Math and Taplady I don't mind ironing. I used to let it build up but once I started making myself do it as soon as the clothes are dried it became much less of a chore. I put a video on- I find musicals such as Phantom of the Opera very good to watch while ironing -and just iron away.

If I wear a shirt with a jumper then only the collar of the shirt gets ironed, I only ever iron stuff that I'm about to put on, if it's not seen it don't get ironed. As for sheets etc ... no way. 1a_y_deadpan.gif

I don't iron anything...I use a tumbledryer and just think lifes too short!!!

When I did iron though, I use to find the piles of unironed clothes really soul destrying. My OH advised me to save myself the stress of looking at it and just put it away and then iron as we needed.
I found that certainly helped my stress levels....but ironing is a bit like painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge...once you finished its time to start all over again.
  • Ironing:confused:

I had to iron something today, and had to hunt for the iron, it has been a while since I last used it:rotfl:

I just hide the stuff that needs ironing in a cupboard, and do it as I need it, and anything else that can go straight onto hangers, I oput into the wardrobes.

I'm seriously considering a treat of an ironing lady, just the once, so that I can catch up.

Lifes too short to stuff mushrooms and iron.;) :D
  • Ironing? Whats that? Mine comes from the drier to the drawer! Only if its essential-maybe a couple of workshirts, does it get ironed. Its a waste of electric!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I recently bought a steam generator, Challenge one out of Argos for £45 and it's brilliant. First time I've seen the armchair in the lounge for five years. Tears through the ironing in no time. I tend to do my ironing when the kids are out at school/nursery or when they are in bed. Not keen on doing ironing when they are up and about. Usually hit it on a Saturday/Sunday night and get it all done. It's just the putting away then as I'm lacking storage space. Buy less clothes and just wash and wear, that way you won't need to iron as much. You only wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time, so buy less.

I also have an ironing press and its definately cut my ironing time by half (now Ive got used to it that is)

I would never give this up and if it broke on me I would definately immediately go and buy another one - I used to get back ache with a normal iron but not any more.

I wont do ironing daily but every other day. If theres something on telly I like I do my ironing then as I can justify sitting down and watching telly during the day.

I have one of these and though they are brilliant, dont you find them akward to store?? Mine has to live out in my shed as it just wont slip away discreetly anywhere in the house!!! (tiny house).Trouble is I am then too lazy to go and get it so end up using the iron

I do as little ironing as possible!!! I hang the clothes up as soon as the WM has finished, so that they dont have time to get creased, i then fold/hang up and put away as soon as it is dry, and only iron the few items that really do need ironing (not many!!!) I find lots of things, even when i have ironed them get creased again in the wardrobe/drawers, and i had been ironing them twice, now i only iron if it needs it!!!
