Got back from the free screening of Faintheart in the Cardiff Cineworld the cinema wasn't packed but i would say there was a few more than 30 there. Really enjoyable film reminded me of my days as a reenactment society orphan, the characters in this were quite true to life and there were some hysterical moment in it, glad i ventured out on even if it was cold wet and windy.0

Faintheart not as bad as I was expecting, the cinema was almost empty although Metro seemed to have announced it for free. The new technique works wonderfully when is a daylight but on night scenes it comes out with a very noticeably grain that distracted me as I do not like nor found particularly
modern.
It was also broadcasted online so I understood by the survey we had to fill in!Thanks to those who help us to win !0 -
Benjamin Button was one I really wouldn't have minded seeing out of all the freebies this month for cinema shows.....however there was none on in Norwich
I'll have to wait for the dvd to come out I guess0 -
Well I wonder if anyone can top Leicester Cinema de Luxe tonight.
Not only free screening of Faintheart, but half the cast were in the audience !!
I thought some people were a bit keen, turning up in full chainmail and broadswords.
About 30, men and women in full costume at the screening who I gather must have been extras on the film.
By the cheering that erupted when the credits rolled and the "Vikings" were listed, I guess they were the Vikings - lol
One really annoying point was the film starting late.
Dashed through rush hour traffic to make the 6.30 start, weather was awful, and I have work and son has school tomorrow, But our first freebie for a while, so we made the effort to get there early as this is the first one we have had with Vertigo and I wasn't too sure how their ticket allocation would pan out.
Please present the attachment to the box office to receive your FREE
tickets (admits 2) to the screening of FAINTHEART on Tuesday January 27th
at 6:30 pm. Please come early because the film starts prompt at 6:30 pm
and there are no ads or trailers.
6.30 came and went, as did 6.45.
Staff said the film was due to start at 7pm, and it didn't actually start until about 6 mins past the hour. Very few people arrived after 6.30, and most ( including our Scandanavian friends ) were there well before the advertised 6.30 start
We enjoyed the film - solid 7 out of 10 from the Stoopid family, but I hope either Vertigo or Leicester Cinema de luxe gets their times sorted out:cool:.0 -
Faintheart at Stockton had 11 viewers.
Mind you I was impressed with how much laughter came from 11 people.
Enjoyed it and agree it was very true to life but I don't think you need to be into re-enactment or Star Tek to appreciate it0 -
Benjamin Button...what a strange story but quite enthralling if you can suspend your disbelief! We thought nearly 3 hrs was going to be a bit much but there was so much packed into the story it soon passed. Cinema was packed with people being turned away. Comments from people on the way out sounded favourable too.
We seem to be seeing some great free films at the mo.....hope it keeps up!!!!0 -

Err... pardon ? Did I miss something ?
As for ours at the Cinema de Lux, I think we managed a 10% audience. 18 in a 170 seat auditorium. I quite expected it to be packed given the free offering in the Metro in both the Friday and Monday editions and its wide availability in loads of places around the city.
Did everyone's screening start at 6:30 like it said online, in the email and on the Metro advert ?
I got there for 6:05 (just to be sure) and was surprised when instructed that I had to go to box office to get tickets. More surprised when it took over 3 minutes of "button pressing" on the touch-screen monitor and that he needed my name to get them. Even more surprised when I saw on the tickets it said 7:00pm for the start of the film.
Sure enough at 6:30 the screen still had Will Smith and Seven Pounds being shown. Nearly 6:45 before it had finished, been "cleaned" and we were let in.
As for the film , a nice little caper with a good smattering of humour and comic events to keep your attention. Amusing and entertaining throughout and despite the low turnout the audience reaction was very good, with communal titters, guffaws and giggles.
Good castings and well acted.
Not a blockbuster and doubt it will win any awards.
Happy to give 8.5/10
Anyone who knew about tonight's free screenings and decided not to go, you've dipped out ! It was really good.

Just back from Benjamin Button at Manchester - it was fantastic ! Definitely better than Slumdog . We arrived at 6.15 and on our way in we were told that they had given out many more tickets than seats so we might not get a seat! Went in and it was probably just under 2/3rds full then soon filled up and I think people were turned away.0

WE SEEM TO HAVE UPSET SOME PEOPLE !!!

A couple of extracts ...
Anyway, I appreciate that its a first come first serve situation, so I never really let it get to me before, besides, I have my monthly pass so I never miss anything. What has really annoyed me though, is finding out that certain forums and websites have started to publish the codes for their members and visitors. Nothing wrong with that really, but what annoys me is that it's done more as a money saving tip, than as a genuine appreciation of cinema. I think most people could guess which site and forum I'm referring to, but it seems these people wouldn't be interested in the slightest about going to see half these films, and are only taking up tickets because they cost fukk all.Yea, I used to get lots of emails from them, used to go to at least two screenings a month, now I'm lucky if I get one a quarter. Thing is, I know there are screenings happening because Money Saving Expert members are rolling in bloody codes for em. Tight sods.
Not happy bunnies at all !
