I found 'Benjamin Button' a bizarre movie.

I know that films are sometimes influnced by personal taste, but it was weird seeing the way the plot developed, without going into detail for those that have not seen it.

It may cleanup at the awards season, but doesn't get my vote.

I'm glad someone else felt the same as me. It was a real let down. I can't put my finger on what was wrong with it, but it just didn't move me, or rather it kept trying to but I found I didn't care. It was kind of long and boring - I didn't get caught up in the magic as it were. But probably not helped by it being out of focus at our cinema!

I agree with the replies on this thread.. yes I use the codes as a money saving effort BUT I also am only go to see films I think I will be interested in. I missed Benjamin Button as my DS was ill but because most of the reviews on here have been positive I will probably go and pay to see it.

My Faintheart screening last night probably started about 6.40pm. We didn't have to queue up to get the email transferred to tickets, which is just as well as the queue for tickets at the Wandsworth Cineworld was unbelievably long! I just wandered upstairs and handed over the bit of paper.

    Hi

I just sent the email for the screening later tonight (28th Jan) at Wimbledon Odeon to see ''17 again''. I am not sure what happens now- as I followed instruction as posted by squishy88 in the codes thread.

Will I get an email back from them with tickets. Do I just turn up and tell them what I am their to see and give them my name. Do I need to print anything off??

    Does anyone know ??

    TIA

Hihi, I was just given a leaflet from some guy yesterday night in Wimbledon Odeon before watching the preview for Benjamin Button. Unfortunately I don't have the time to go see it tonight but put it up for anyone who might be interested. I'm not sure how it works out but it might be preferably to ring them up to speak to someone in person about it. Good luck! :)

  • Have just been reading the empire online piece about free screenings etc and i have to say i found it really amusing, what the person said about not being able to get tickets stinks a bit of downright jealousy that they are always slow off the mark. It also came across as being a bit snobbish insinuating that nobody else 'appreciates' cinema, of course we appreciate it, i love going to these screenings not just because of the free tickets but because i get to see a wide range of films that maybe would have passed me by otherwise. These screenings are also to spread word of mouth, i have loved cinema since i was a child and even worked in one for the best part of five years, nobody has a entitlement over anybody else.
  • went to watch Benjamin Button last night what a fantasic film i loved the story, so glad i got there early the place soon filled up to brusting point to where they turned people away in the end the first one i've seen like that.

saw some people are unhappy on another site that codes get posted here well i for one am so glad that there is a code thread as many i would'ent be able to take the kids as often as i have so they get the full befit from the code thread and doing there part telling there friends what they thought of the film they have just seen.

so like to say a big thankyou to everyone who takes the time and effort to post codes :A :A :A :A

aint that the whole point of the film preview people go and watch the film inturn they tell others they know what they thought of the film which would then make others go to watch the film when released

    :j :j for the code thread :j :j
everyone is wonderfull well all most :A

This is where we are going wrong, thinking that.

Apparently these screenings are only intended for militant film buffs to attend, so they can over-analyse the thing to death and have some additional pretentious claptrap to trot out at their next dinner party :)

Surely it's more the case that people are seeing free films so don't give a crap if they chat all the way through - NOT about film snobbery or something.

I'm lucky enough to be able to regularly check MSE whilst at work (although for some reason FMUK is barred) but if I couldn't I'd miss out on pretty much all the freebie films that I get to see - which seriously helps the rather large dent cinema going usually puts in my bank balance.

The annoyance for me is (as for many others) that when tickets are snapped up straight away and you don't get any, you just know that the screening will probably only be half full on the night.
  • Can I just check about Times screenings ... I have 4 tickets to Bolt on Sunday morning but don't have the section of the paper to fill the code in on. I have been to screenings for them before and you just handed in the email .... but I think someone mentioned on here that you now need the section of the paper too?

Can anyone help me clear this up?

    Many thanks
