Just got back from watching The Ugly Truth. Loved it. Absolutely hilarious. There are not many films where all the audience laugh at once.

Have to agree with furndire The Ugly Truth was great - extremely funny. It was much better than I was expecting.
  • Loved the Ugly Truth... even though I was only initially going to drool over Mr Butler.

Bit of a shambles at the Sheffield Vue however... with the film having to be stopped just as it was starting so they could draft extra chairs in for the latecomers!

Tibbs thats really not fair on people like me who bought the magazine, read the book several years ago several times and have been dying to watch the film for ages... hope I manage to get a ticket before all the non MC readers swoop on them...

Please give genuine readers and fans of the book a little time before you give the code to the vultures on here. Thanks./QUOTE]

Reverbe, how about you mature a little? You don't think that many others on here have missed out on codes for films they're desperate to see? Of course, we all have, but that's part of the process. Also, I found it extremely ironic that, here you are, on a thread for free tickets, and yet, the rest of us are "vultures".

btw, I haven't read an issue of Maire Claire in my life, and was delighted when I got tickets for Julie&Julia. You know why? It sounds like a damn funny flick.

    REVERBE

I cant believe I am reading this rubbish!!! Honestly get a grip. You are obviously on the forum because you like to get free tickets for films like everyone else, why else would you be here??????

You have probably got tickets in the past for a film that someone else might have read the book been a fan of since they were a child!! If that happened to me I would think never mind, such is life, not kick up the fuss that you have kicked up. I have been to see The Ugly Truth and also The taking of Pelham 123 in the last two weeks, not because I am a vulture, but because I enjoy going to the cinema and can't afford to pay the prices they charge on a regular basis so take extreme exception to your comment and think you should apologise!

Reverbe, we get the picture, we know that you think the recent offerings are shoddy, we don't need you to continually repeat it. However, it isn't an opinion shared by the majority of preview goers. I know many people both male and female, of all age groiups, different cultures and from all over the UK who absolutely loved The Hangover. You didn't; fine that is your opinion-but we don't need to hear it ad infinitum.

Personally I have enjoyed a huge variety of films; many that I may not have seen had I have had to choose to pay for them and that includes Anvil; The Story of Anvil and several foreign language films such as Gomorah and Waltz with Bashir plus blockbusters such as Slumdog Millionaire, Australia, Star Trek and Bruno. I am extremely lucky to have seen so many previews over the past 18 months or so and have rarely been disappointed but then again, maybe I have a wider interest in a variety of genre than you. I have been disappointed with very few, for instance What Just Happened (the title says it all), a couple of French language films but not all and Revolutionary Road. However, I appreciate that others enjoyed the films that I wasn't struck on. Individuals are different and have differing points of view and I think that's great.

So please can you stop the banging on about 'shoddy films' just because you are bitter you missed out on tickets to Julie & Julia. Apart from anything, there is a good chance there will be another code or two for this film and I fervantly hope you manage to nab some tickets. Fingers crossed.

Apart from the above, I have only heard great comments said about Hangover. Infact there is a group on facebook where thousands have commented on what a fab film it was, surely they cant all be WRONG!!

My husband, and four friends of mine all separately went to see the preview and everyone thought it was fab!

Dragging my other half to the Ugly Truth tonight. Glad that people on here found it good!

Also to the person who said about how annoying it was that the film tickets have only been for naff movies:

Personally I only book for those movies I really fancy but that doesn't mean that I think anything less of those that book because they are free. I agree that the cinema is so expensive so yes free tickets are the way forward.

I have personally missed out on a couple of movies I really wanted to see but that's the way it goes. If I really wanted to see a film that much I'd pay for it anyway.

We saw The Ugly Truth last night. It was ok... a bit formulaic - you could see it all coming a mile off, but it was generally funny, with some good laugh out loud lines. Gerard Butler was great, as were the couple who played the anchor couple on the TV programme.

What I did enjoy was going to a different cinema - we went to Vue in Bolton, which was great.

Re The Ugly Truth: 33.3% of the title is true, 33.3% is grammatically neutral. The remaining third is epistemologically antithetical.

Re the debate about magazine codes: I love this site and am always grateful for people posting codes up. Thanks everyone!
