The manufacturer set the RRP at £3.99 - this was written on the box, it seems.
However, TK Maxx had stuck a label on the item stating RRP £8, TK Maxx price £3.99
If the RRP genuinely was £8 then yes there would have been a saving. What the poster is implying is that TK Maxx were wrong about the RRP, and therefore there was no saving.0 -
In other lifetime I was a buyer for an independent store, and if you knew what the mark up is on the price we paid you'd probably never pay full price for anything ever again!!
My boss also used to make up the RRPs on our labels. I knew it was illegal, so did he, but he did it anyway.
My advice....don't believe everything you read, especially price tickets.0 -
it'd be even more of a waste if you bought them from quicksilver for full price or ralph lauren. Shoulda taken them back. :-)
Hi Hannamint, If you work at tk maxx you must know when to expect final, yellow lable clearance. I believe it's going to be very soon, isn't it? Do you know? Please!!!0 -

I like Tk-Maxx but got quite annoyed with them recently too.
I bought 2 pairs of tights for £2.99, they were in individual packs that were bound together with a strip of card saying 'value twin pack' whick had obviously been done by the manufacturer. I liked the tights so went back to stock up a few days later and found all the packs had been separated and individually priced at £2.99 each!
Very annoying, such a cheeky con!0 -
Each time I visit my nearest major shopping centre I go into TKMaxx in the hope that just once, just maybe, I'd be able to find something that I like, but the place is an absolute mess, and so many clothes jammed onto each rail it's impossible to look through them.
I must have been in the shop 50 times but I think the time has come to admit defeat and accept that I'm not a really dedicated shopper - and certainly rather too long in the tooth to be sucked in by all the 'designer' hype!0 -
I saw some craft tubs in TK Maxx before Xmas, priced £5.99 - Asda had previously sold them at £3 each. However, I agree you can get some really good bargains in TK Maxx as well (I bought some knee high boots in the Autumn for £40 - still not cheap but I've worn them loads).
Its easy to get into the mindset that just because you're being told it's a bargian, it is - its like the pound shop syndrome - where you can easily spend a fortune because everything is £1 - without actually asking a) is it actually worth £1, b) can I get this cheaper elsewhere, c) do I really need it.
The paying for carrier bags annoys me though - I refuse to pay more money to carry around a bag essentially giving the store free advertising.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
