I've had some really excellent deals from TKMaxx.

I've bought lots of evening dresses around the £35 and £40 mark and they are really nice. I consider that a great bargain.

Obviously as others have said you need to consider each item in isolation and not just assume, but everything I've bought there has been great prices and great stuff.

We've always found them great value for money.

We like surf wear designers clothing & it's much cheaper in the Maxx than anywhere else, including online!

We also have a designer outlet near by-up to 70% off rrp they claim. Yet we always go in Quiksilver & Billabong & see exactly the same stock as the Maxx have but at two or three(or more!)times the price!

Example, I bought a Billabong sweatshirt from the Maxx that was £8. Same top in Billabong a week later-£32!!!

Although sometimes you CAN get a good deal from TK Maxx, but it's just a giant jumble sae; you need to really look around and keep your sensible head screwed on.

Oh totally agree you can get a good deal- but you do need to keep your wits about you, like going in to buy say a pair of jeans in a certain style of for a certain price bracket. You can find pretty much everything in there somewhere! its just how hard you are prepared to look and how much time you are prepared to look for!

TK Maxx still remains one of my favorite stores, but do think they have year on year raised their prices higher and higher- you used to be able to bet stuff at 80% discount- without it being in the clearance rails years and years ago....

I treated my kids to an outfit each from tk maxx, all "big brand" names. One had a quiksilver jumper and bench trousers, the other Ralph Lauren trousers and top. each item was 12.99 so twice the price I would normally pay for kids clothing.

every item shrunk or faded in the wash and I only got maybe 6 months wear out of them - total waste of money!
  • i work at tkmaxx. We once had some baby swimming rubber ring things in, and on our label, we said that the rrp was £10 which it was, but we were selling them for cheaper. However, they were made for asda in the first place, and on the packaging still had the asda's price of £9.98. We do up to 60% of the rrp, but that doesn't necessarily mean that another price you find on a garment is the rrp... like the asda rubber ring thing. asda were also reducing the rrp. come to tkmaxx halifax.. we're ace. :-)
  • I had my eye on something for my mum in TK before Xmas - when I went in just before Xmas eve the item had been put into clearance with a red label- but the price had gone up £10!
I took it to the CS and queried whether it was mistake but was told that it wasn't - their explanation being they source products from a range of suppliers at varying prices which they reflect to us the customer (??? - seemed very strange to me and I have never seen evidence of this pricing policy before..)

All of these particular items were priced the same at 2 stores I saw them in and in the clearance they were all priced the same too.

Needless to say I didn't buy it - but having always enjoyed shopping at TK that really put me off and thought it was a sneaky trick. I won't be hurrying back.....

this is also true. we buy from different areas, sometimes because of this fact, we can end up with the exact same product at completely different prices. It seems unfair, but it's purely because we buy from so many different places. I know it appears like i'm a tkmaxx protester, i'm really not. i just want people to know that we don't rip people off intentionally.

it'd be even more of a waste if you bought them from quicksilver for full price or ralph lauren. Shoulda taken them back. :-)

Have to say have had some nice stuff from TK Maxx.

But I always shop around and while its a store I will check out, recently I have found better value elsewhere. Its getting so competitve out there I have to resist the temptation to get the first thing I see.

Presumably the manufacturer's cardboard packaging with £3.99 on it (not a sticker, but part of the packaging) strongly implies that that is the RRP.
Thus the shop's "RRP" of £8 was a complete falsification.

I love shopping in TK Maxx and have got some good bargains from my daughter. I think you have to be sensible. I got a pack of washable nappies (tots bots) which should have been about £250 for £25. They had a mix up witht the labels - That's probably my best bargain from there!!!
