no most of the packaging on products are for when the item might have been sent somewhere else, the rrp is a recommendation only.. and it's rare that places sell to the full rrp, which is why you don't usually find them on packaging.. like the asda stuff. anyways, i'm not gonna bicker about it. I know what goes on because i'm a part of it. anyone else can believe what they want :-)0

Hannamint- you have just undone all your hard work!, re: sticking up for your company! Now your saying that we are infact being led-on by TK Maxx?- they write the RRP, but infact, you then say its rare that places sell to the full RRP
The whole thing about TK Maxx is they "sell up to 60% off what it would cost elsewhere" so if the RRP is infact not really used by anyone....then why do TK Maxx make thier claim about cutting upto 60% off things!0 -
I agree that you have to be careful but there can be real bargains. I bought a Paul Costello jacket in TKMaxx just before Christmas which cost me £80 and was originally priced at £399. The other day I was in John Lewis and they had the same jacket in their sale reduced from £399 to £299. I like it but there is no way I would have paid the original price or the John Lewis sale price.0

I love shopping in TK Maxx but I goi in there with items in mind that I would like and I always make sure I know the 'real' original price or the price I would expect to pay anywhere else. That way I have had some realy baragins like Missoni sunglasses for £18, would have cost £120 or so in House of Fraser etc, Primp hoodie for £8, would have been around £50.0

i got some givenchy sunglasses for 20 which i chuck about then found out they were worth about 350 quid:eek:
same as a pair of d&G ones they had for 15 quid, i ummed and ahhed about getting them left the store and they had gone when i went back, never seen them less than a 100 elsewhere:rolleyes:
so you can grab some bargains if you are lucky, for me usually im not as they never have what i like in my size, the big uggs were 90 at xmas but all in size 8/9 so no good for me.

it's true, not many places do, obviously branded shops do, like bench and quicksilver, but lots of places don't go the full rrp because they don't need to. tkmaxx doesn't either.. i'm not saying were exclusive... i'm saying it's what places do. all the ones that charge £200 for a coat are ripping you off because it clearly isn't worth it if we can sell the same one for £800 -

TKMax can sell it for £80, because the manufacturer or importer has reduced the price for the oddments they want to clear...they could be odd sizes or poor selling colours.0 -
I bought my son a jacket from TK Max about 6 months ago when the exchange rate was still ok.
tk max tag said - RRP £78 Our price £19.99
The manufaturers tag on the actual garment said RRP $64
It was still a good bargain so I bought it. You do need to be careful though and shop around I have seen them sell something for £10 and was just in matalan next door and the same item was £6 and not in the sale.
Also with this I was buying presents for my friends twins. After rummaging through the isles I found 2 identical cardigans one was £12.99 and 1 was £19.99....
I took them to customer services explaining that the wrong tag must have been put on one. They told me that it happens quite a lot and that tk max has bought them from 2 different suppliers hence 2 different prices...
There are some good bargains to be found sometimes.
The main gripe I have about the store is their returns policy.
I bought a kids lamp it didnt work took it back the next day. I lost the reciept so they refused to take it. I also bought a bikini, you cannot try them on as the security tag tags both pieces together, but as I know I am a 12 when I got home I realised the bottoms were a 16 and the top a 12, the TK max tag said 12. I took it back the next day with reciept but they do not accept returns on swimwear...
I used to shop there a lot but not so often any more because of this.0 -
aww that sucks koolcat... always ask at the fitting rooms for them to detag things you want trying on because they will do it. sad thing is now that so many people abuse the returns policy that they've had to change it which makes it ridiculous for the good customers.0

but then that really confuses me- so infact what you are saying is that the statements by TK Maxx saying "we’re always up to 60% less" is infact talking about the RRP, not infact the actual selling cost.
Meaning that they are not 60% less then in other shops, as shops do not sell at the RRP prices.
I get it!0
