TK-Max fake discount

Jennie, I think you're right but it's all about common sense and digging. I got some nice Puma trainers I had wanted for £65 but couldn't afford so when I saw them for £19.99 of course I was pleased with the bargain. Primp hoodies retail on www.bunnyhug.co.uk or at least they did a few seasons ago for about £120 and TK had them for £19.99 so another bargain. But as I say, I saw a £20 FCUK T shirt for £19.99 in TKs so I didn't bother.0

I had never been in a tkmaxx store before last week. We just went in there killing time. My mum managed to find a £120 coat for £15, it had about 5 orange tickets over all of the old tickets and I found some trainers for £13.99. I didnt get the trainers but I went into the shop next door (an expensive (imo) shoe shop) and they were retailing for £55. I am still debating if to go back and grab a pair. The was about 30 of them all lined up :rotfl:0

Yeah tkmaxx are pretty crap sometimes but sometimes they're really good so it's a hard one. I can't go into theirs stores because I have seen tidier squats and online they just send you whatever the hell they want not necessarily what you've ordered. My boyf ordered a pair of trainers and was sent them in a completely different colour but they are definitely real brand ones and he is thrilled with them nonetheless.
I just ordered some trainers online which they actually managed to send lol and it was super fast, but the shoes are missing an eyelet on one of the lace holes which is annoying but I do love the design. However, it said the RRP was £40 and that I saved £22, but when I got the trainers, the quality reflects the price as they clearly weren't £40 trainers by any stretch.
Previously, I have bought clothes there and they are not the quality you'd associate with the designer. Sometimes you do get a good buy in their, my boyf has a pair of jeans from there which are clearly better than the rubbish asda ones lol.
I guess we need to shop around like everyone says. TK Maxx bang on about their discount prices but I googled the trainers I recently bought and they are actually more expensive at TK Maxx so I am a bit annoyed especially as mine are faulty. Plus, they couldn't even wrangle together a shoe box to send 'em in, just chucked them in a bag. Maybe they didn't come in a box, but I suspect everything is a bit thrown together there. That would be ok if I was paying less, not more for this particular item.0 -
I bought my son a jacket from TK Max about 6 months ago when the exchange rate was still ok.
tk max tag said - RRP £78 Our price £19.99
The manufaturers tag on the actual garment said RRP $64
It was still a good bargain so I bought it. You do need to be careful though and shop around I have seen them sell something for £10 and was just in matalan next door and the same item was £6 and not in the sale.
Also with this I was buying presents for my friends twins. After rummaging through the isles I found 2 identical cardigans one was £12.99 and 1 was £19.99....
I took them to customer services explaining that the wrong tag must have been put on one. They told me that it happens quite a lot and that tk max has bought them from 2 different suppliers hence 2 different prices...
There are some good bargains to be found sometimes.
The main gripe I have about the store is their returns policy.
I bought a kids lamp it didnt work took it back the next day. I lost the reciept so they refused to take it. I also bought a bikini, you cannot try them on as the security tag tags both pieces together, but as I know I am a 12 when I got home I realised the bottoms were a 16 and the top a 12, the TK max tag said 12. I took it back the next day with reciept but they do not accept returns on swimwear...
I used to shop there a lot but not so often any more because of this.
If they have that problem with a bikini again they should replace/ refund - it is faultyy/not as described. Primark tried to stop me returning a bra/pant set one time until I pointed out that it was faulty. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I picked up two identical throws, one with a £12.99 original price ticket, the other with a TK Max sticker over the top of the original stating £14.99.
I wanted both so asked which was the correct price,I was told both since that's what was on the stickers .
A friend had the same problem with two larger throws only the difference with her identical purchases was an original sticker price of £19.99 and on the other a TK Max sticker of £29.99 which is a huge difference but they still would'nt budge from the sticker price.
Their pricing system is madness.0 -

i saw a tv documentary on a 'direct' 'sports' shop showing their 70% off labels were put on at point of manufacture, totally illegal and tk maxx are a similar type of chav shop so....Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

I love TK Maxx but always find it a little hit and miss. I bought a pair of Ted Baker heels in there once, no scuffs or faults, but they were only £3.00! And I also bought a black trench coat style jacket for only £4.00 which I regularly wear.
You do have to be prepared to look hard though to find anything worthwhile.
I do always find the home stuff brilliant though.0 -
sorry but I am confused about what you are complaining about
one pair was marked down from £8 to £3.99. I then spotted that the manufacturer's price was given on the packaging: £3.99!
Here you say it was £8 in tk maxx reduced to £3.99 and origunal manufacturers RRP £3.99
Yet here you say £8 RRPNope - the label said RRP £8, TK-Maxx price £3.99.
so you would have got if you hd bought them an £8 pair of socks for £3.990
