Now that is just nuts!! I didn't see this anywhere. Although i did get a lovely email from ebay yesterday asking me to sign their petiton against the manfacturers introducing new rules which put unfair restrictions on ebay sellers rights to sell anything and make a profit (lol!)

Parcel Monkey is owned by Nav Ramiah, it's not a name that i've come across before. But at least there are company details etc on the website, and that's a lot better than some of the resellers.

If you're a bit unsure then make sure you pay with paypal, then you can always use the paypal buyer protection if there are any problems.

Parcel Monkey's MD (Nav Ramiah) was on here spamming a little and got removed. Also there is no real buyer protection with PayPal when buying services. You can start a dispute or claim and PayPal will hold the resellers (your) money, but the reseller can easily reverse it as PayPal cannot hold money for services, only goods.

This is what PayPal told me when I had an issue with Low Cost Parcel Delivery a while back.

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone has come up against the same issues as myself, I send quite a number of parcels using an agent (pay per parcel) and these parcels go via DHL but whenever I check the parcel tracking I notice the items have “over large” against them. I check each parcel twice for size before sending them so I know they are not larger than I state. I once tried to make a claim against DHL because a parcel did not get delivered and they said they would not pay because the parcel was “over large” so if DHL were to put this on every parcel they could get out of ever paying a claim??

    Any thoughts.

I often get "over large" or similar on the tracking. It was alarming at first but nothing has ever been returned or charged extra.
I've assumed it means the parcel wouldn't fit on the standard depot conveyor to be barcode scanned and sorted and instead was manually scanned with a scanner in the oversize department.

Nice thread, I have asked Saletrack to quote for my daily deliveries, I use a local courier company in Warrington, DHL pick up and deliver and he charges me £5.00 per parcel (exc VAT) B2B and £5.25 (exc VAT) B2C upto 30kgs.

So I wait and see and will inform you if Saletrack could beat TDL's price.

I never have this problem when I track the goods. What size are your parcels.
  • Hello,

I need to send a parcel of childrens toys to my grandmothers house and then arrange a return collection of them at the end of next week. They are my sons toys, but we are travelling up there on the train (5 hours) and I will have enough to carry with him, the buggy and a rucksack of clothes.
The issue is that I do not yet have a box, I am going to get one from work tonight, and estimate the size to be maybe 50x40x30, weight maybe 3kg.

Ideally I would like this to be collected tomorrow and delivered monday. (We are travelling up there Sunday, coming back saturday)

Would it be possible to arrange a collection for tomorrow online this evening once I have the box and it is all packed up? I dont want to do it before then as I dont have the exact dimensions/ weight.

The cheapest I have managed to find is interparcel - fedex 24 (7.95+vat) or interparcel economy (6.99+vat) is this about the going rate for parcels of this size/weight?

    Thanks. xx

tbh I'd just use saletrack and pay no more than £5.75.

...and if you send enough pay £4.

Do you work for Saletrack?? I have just sent a request but seeing as you are in the forum can you get me prices any quicker?? Just a thought.

    Hi

Yes that all sounds spot on. Book on-line tonight, and it will be collected Friday and delivered Monday or Tuesday. Then book again for it to be picked up say two weeks later and returned back to you.

Those prices are about right. Some people don't like FedEx some don't like UPS (Interparcel Economy). I always use collectmyparcel.com, they use DHL at £8.75, I know it's a bit more expensive but I've never had a problem with them.

    Hope that helps :j

For this kind of weight, the Post Office standard parcel service is cheaper, you tend to find that around about 5kg in weight (or on a special delivery) that parcel couriers tend to start being a bit cheaper than the Royal Mail, but for odd parcels under 5kg don't assume that Post Office isn't the cheapest.

However, as they say in the mastercard advert; having it collected from your house, and not having to lug it down to the postoffice -priceless!
