Well the day didn't start too well, and the toddlers were irritating, but it improved greatly this evening:
Outlaws sent a cheque to us for our anniversary. They like us to buy something tangible so we're going to say that it paid for the luggage we needed to buy (unsurprising considering the air miles they've been doing  ) so the money will help this month.
Friends who lent me their son to break up pallets were looking for a sofa for the playroom (they foster) and something that might be suitable appeared on Freecycle. When I phoned them we of course talked about the pallets and they told me where I can get "a couple of quid" for each pallet -if the boss lets me take them away I can get 2 or 3 a WEEK :j
Lodger got 2 chickens for 75p EACH from the supermarket where she works :j (she also got some yummy profiteroles that have to be eaten today, for pudding after the baked potatoes she brought home yesterday...:D ) And she pays rent
So after a pretty poor performance in March, debt busting in April is looking better. Though I've done the figures and I won't be able to pay off the credit card in full by Friday, so will pay some interest. Will be paid Tuesday now.
This time next week Popeye will be on his way home, and I got a reduced price train ticket + a free upgrade to first class for his journey from the airport home(he can consider that his anniversary present :rotfl: )
Did you know that the 9th wedding anniversary is leather/willow?
Good for cricket players......:rotfl:0 -

Belated Happy Anniversary..they do say that waiting makes it all the sweeter...so you will have a really good one next week! Anniversary that is:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Yup I'm really looking forward to getting in slightly late to work next Thursday (Popeye lands at 6.20 am)
in fact I had a practice run at being late this morning :rotfl: :rotfl:
Fortunately I'm on my own for the first hour, unless the boss gets in a bit early - he often does.
But I've been cogitating on whether to make an official complaint about one of the toddlers...... I keep rehearsing what I'm going to say, and imagining his response.....I know that he's just as much at a loss as to what to do about the toddlers squabbling, but my complaint is about a particular behaviour of one of them (FK is negative and critical about EVERYTHING and I think it is unprofessional and bad for morale)
My boss is quite intelligent and wise, and when something appears to be wrong he can often offer an alternative view (except as regards the squabbling) I'm hoping that he can reassure me, as I don't think he'll do anything
But I am again fretting about work and I don't like it.
If I tell Popeye this, he says "come out here" and there are reasons why I'm not sure about that either
Thanks for letting me cogitate on here0 -

Doesn't seem to be a brilliant day for anyone today does it
Olive I'm sorry to hear of your dilemmas - its an awful feeling being unhappy at work.
Shaun, I remember those younger years well when the twins were teething/ill/or just plain mardy!!
I-T has gone in for his op to remove blood clot from breast this morning. But when I rang and spoke to the Sister she said that the procedure was different to what they thought they would do - the so called blood clot (which was the size of D cup) is in fact a lump. They have removed the lump and sent it off for analysis and are arranging for him to have an MRI scan. Sister couldn't tell me much more, so I going off to visit him as soon as the twins come home from school.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0
