It is gloriously sunny here, and I'm ever so slightly resentful that although I am going to see some very good friends tonight, who I haven't seen since before Christmas I'm desperate to get going on the veg plot before Popeye gets home, and I keep reading peoples posts on here about *them* getting into the garden, and I can't until tomorrow afternoon! (I'm staying over)
If it rains tomorrow I'll be    :rotfl: (it's forecast to be good)
There'll be no time to go shopping, so heaven knows what we'll eat - should be good for the budget :rotfl:0 -
What a beautiful day!!
Had a lovely meal out with I-T last night and his Dad and sister (Dad wanted to come as it may the last birthday he spends with I-T - his words not mine! He's 94 bless him!)
Went to a very nice brasserie at a lovely hotel where the England football team used to stay - how the other half live! We had a meal deal voucher so very MSE.
Off to Shropshire in a while for Dad's birthday weekend - got to drop Dibley off at the cattery on the way - then off to meet sis and her OH in a nice pub for lunch on the way and hope to get to the YHA Manor house where we are staying by about 5pm.
Heating engineers are here fitting new boiler so when we come home we will at last have hot water and heating!!!!! :j:j:j
But the best news of all is that my dear friend has said she will come over the weekend and clean my house and change the beds for me cos she knows I'm stressed out about the mess!!
How lovely to have a friend like that :A:A:A
Have a lovely weekend everyone and see you Sunday evening xx

Thanks Shaun
I'm wearing my "best Mum Ever" badge (even though I'm taking my Mum out) and admiring my two cards. DS1 hasn't sent me anything - I blame his gf
Yesterday I spent some time with a friend (she lent me her hulking great son to sort my pallets out) and while he was working we chatted. Two of her daughters after years of trying have had failed IVF treatment this year. She was upset that they were avoiding her on Mothering Sunday, but as we chatted we worked out, they were avoiding any mum-type situations today. It breaks her heart that those 2 women, who would be such good mothers aren't given the chance

Hi Olive ... thats sad .... there are so many women who want a baby and can't have them, and it *hurts*, so much..... my friend in Docklands had 5 miscarriages before she gave up trying, she's still devastated from it .....
Hope your Mother's Day is a good one - is DS1 going to get an earful?????2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
On the good news front, these are the things that are making me happy:
- we may have sold the piano - and if she can get her OH to agree, it will be gone by Easter
- the raised bed is FINISHED:D It was the work of ONE hour by friends Son to dismantle the pallets, but he was shattered by the end
Then I spent a couple of hours hammering it together, diggind out a compost heap and filling it. It is now being warmed with a couple of secondary glazing panels we had kept
- I looked this morning and it hasn't fallen apart
and I've forbidden Popeye to criticise it, or use a spirit level near it
- Butcher gave me some bones for stock and I now have pots and pots of beef stock (It'll make a pleasant change from chicken stock
) and enough marrowfat to make meat custard (sounds revolting - I'll let you know :rotfl: ) to serve with steak
- Off to see my Mum now
- Couldn't tidy the honeysuckle outside the kitchen window that has collapsed slightly during the snow because a bird has made a nest in it
As Shaun says - feel the love0 - we may have sold the piano - and if she can get her OH to agree, it will be gone by Easter

He is a stepson - but I consider myself his Mum (he doesn't ever see his birth mother) I would like to give him an ear-bashing. But what always happens is he turns up; is completely charming and I'm grateful for the small amounts of attention from him :rotfl: :rotfl:
He has in the past sent me a card - but it really does depend on the gf of the moment(boys/men
)
And as for your friend FIVE - how devastating. For those who want a child, but can't, or have never had the opportunity it is so Sad. Especially on a day like today when everything is OBSESSED by mothers.....0 -
