Oooh Olive do let me know what you think of the Remoska I am tempted by one, but have a slow cooker.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

It's a bit miserable this Monday morning, and dark and I didn't want to get out of bed. On the radio was a news item about Australia advertising for someone to look after a tropical island for six months for £70,000. Very little work needed, no experience but must be prepared to write a blog.....tempting
I think you had to scuba dive too, which I can't do.
It'll be another long day for me. DS2 needs to load the car when I get in from work and then I'll drive him back to uni. I'm really looking forward to the peace and quiet of the house to myself, though it is terrifically untidy at the mo. All of us need to clear stiff to loft/charity shop/e-bay in order to make space.
DS1 has gone away leaving stacks of stuff already sorted but for me to shift  I may well take his loft pile to the charity shop "accidently" :rotfl:
DD has stacks in her room that HAVE to be moved before month end to make room for the lodger and she won't be home by then.
So I think I know what I'll be doing this weekend:- mending the shed door (metal shed, wrongly assembled by me
)
- moving stuff in and out of the loft
Update: Popeye and I have been exchanging e-mails about blowing some air-miles on him coming home for the weekend.......
I'm trying to be sensible and say "it's only been 2 weeks since/it will only be 4 weeks until I'm out there. And then I think of the shed door and the loft and my nice bed and I want him home........0 - mending the shed door (metal shed, wrongly assembled by me

3tbsp s'flower oil, 2 tbsp sesame oil, 1 crushed clove of garlic, 1 tbsp smooth p'nut butter, 1 small chilli finely chopped,4 tbsp light soy sauce,1 tbsp lime juice. 4tbsp chopped coriander.
stirred into 2 pkts of cooked medium egg noodles.
I had to look the recipe up as I've done it from memory for so long. :rotfl:
We never bother with the coriander, the lime juice is usually lemon and the chilli dried. Dark soy sauce changes it to a brown dishand I quite like it with crunchy p'nut butter.
And I love curry done in the slow cooker....mmmmmmmmm
Yum, thanks.0 -
Yep it will be well worth the air miles!
I too saw the advert for the Island *sigh* trouble is i would be blogging about it every day as i would be bored with Mr.B for company! He sleeps a lot:rolleyes: but i could DIY to my hearts content.:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Mis-read the site, it would cost twice what I'd first thought to bring Popeye home for the weekend
so we cancelled that idea.
I took DS2 back to his flat this evening. And as we entered the congestion zone at 18.50 I thought "OH NO!!! THAT'S £8 AND I'M TRYING FOR A NO SPEND WEEK" I moaned and complained until; as we left the congestion zone; we read that it was in force until 6pm. I was delighted. DS2 thinks I'm well sadHe said "how can you be so happy that you were so wrong?"
I felt sure that other DFWs would understand. :rotfl:
So I DID manage a NSD. :j
And (part of budget, therefore not affecting the NSD) we booked Popeye's trip home at Easter. :j So I'm out in Feb, :j and he's back at Easter. :j We could be debt free faster, but neither of us can bear the long separations. We had nigh on 3 months apart last summer and frankly it made us ill coping with it. (That sounds over dramatic, but it wasn't a good time) So knowing when our next two visits are due is a coping mechanism and is part of our budget.
I booked through Quidco (£6.56) got 200 nectar points (is that £2???) and paid with my Amex, which keen readers of this site will know should pay for another trip for both of us in a few months time -just like our leader :rotfl:0 -
I would have been gutted if I had ruined my NSD, so I understand :rotfl:
And yay for having a trip home with Popeye to look forward to. I have also done the long-distance relationships thing (Not all the way to Africa, only 300 miles) when neither of us had a car and public transport took eight hours to get us to see each other. It was horrid, and knowing when the visits are coming does make things more bearable, so yay for knowing when the next ones are.
Not long till Feb now after all0 -
We understand about the charge .LOL. I too would havebeen elated at not having to pay. Sorry he is not coming back but it will soon go and you both have excellent reasons for it all. Look at sig now. xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hello Wol! :hello: Wow you are def. a night-Wol, look at the time you posted:eek:
I'd love to come to Sussex one weekend (when it is a bit warmer/drier?) but promise me I won't have to stay up so late? :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Work is a bit uncomfortable at the mo, as there's an argument brewing and bubbling over. Nothing to do with me but it's a small office so when it bursts its banks occasionally I can't make phone calls or even concentrate while they shout
(and I HATE confrontation)
Any how today I have/will- brought in packed lunch (enhanced the tasteless soup with leftover gravy
)
- also brought in snacklets. If you tried Graze (Quidco cashback & cheap trial) you'll know the 3 snacks in separate pots idea? Well I divided up some nuts into the teeny teeny pots that came with the Ikea freezer pots that none of us knew what to use them for and I've built my very own Graze packages
- another NSD (apart from my 20p-budgeted :rotfl: tonight)
- will review the money making ideas. I've let MS slide, and clicks (have there been ANY piggy clicks this year?
) and surveys; I should restart them.
- read my Remoska cookbook and plan next weeks cooking.....
I haven't done the laundry hokey cokey today. Tonight I'll see what I can clear up in the kitchen before I go AmDramming. We only moved the furniture back into place last night and that was since our December 14th family gatheringI know I'll feel more positive when the house is tidy.
