Hi Olive,
Having a clean and tidy house somehow clears the mind too doesn't it?
I love it when the twins are at school and I have done the h/w and for just a few hours it looks fab! Then, home they come....................
I've got an interview at 12noon today in Cassiobury Park so not too far, so please keep your fingers crossed for me as I would really like to be earning some money again and being someone not just Mum.
Its horrid when there is an atmosphere in the office, I find women are really !!!!!y when they are all working together so have tended to work alone (but still part of a team if you know what I mean) as a Sales Advisor for New Builds, but that is not a good industry to be in now. I think you are doing the best thing by keeping a low profile - let them have their argument and you just be on the sidelines - good luck xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
MoT, I've just spotted your signature. I persuaded my boss that CAP was the charity that we as a company could support :j :j He's even thinking of training as a support person (not the highly expert ones)
I do hope that your interview goes well. Cassiobury is a beautiful part of that area.
And the office has thawed a bit. But the man was as bad as the woman. Yesterday it was shouting and door slamming :rotfl: :rotfl: :eek:0 -
So for 2009:
- bring my DF date forward -dare I admit to wanting June???
- Clear the house/loft for when Popeye returns in 2010 with another house load of stuff
- Get the garden under control without resorting to paid help
- lose weight and get fitter
- finish writing a play....
One week down the line and I've achieved very littleHowever, a lot of thinking has been going on, and I don't underestimate the importance of thought preparation.
1) well I'm having a NSWeek and feel positive about that. But I've lost a fiver  It was in my jeans pocket for emergencies when I took DS2 back to uni on Monday. And now I can't find it:mad:
2) & 3) I've taken TWO TV's to the tip (our Freecycle is FULL of much better TV's than the ones we scrapped) And I have a plan for this weekend to clear the patio of the bits of wood, old pots and broken furniture - it's a start.:o
4) weight is exactly the same as before Christmas, and as we ate out 75% of the time and I consumed an entire wine lake I'm not too disappointed
5)Um, in addition to directing something in July, Last night I agreed to submit a play for later in the year  But I think I'm raring to go......
These are very small steps.though they are in the right direction.
Tomorrow evening I have a friend coming over who is in dire need of MSE (hubbys pay cut and threat of redundancy) in a macabre way I'm looking forward to going through her budget with her, because I KNOW it would be easy to trim loads without her noticing the effect. Her OH however......stubborn is not the word. The immediate problem is to fiond something I can serve for our supper without going to the shops for anything.0 -
I FOUND THE FIVER :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
I'm so happy that it's quite sad really :rotfl:0 -

A fiver is a fiver! I have been known to be competely reluctant to spend a note, because i have no wish to break into it.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

And last night I blew the fiver I had lost and found, PLUS the £8 I didn't spend in the congestion zone just because I c*cked up  My friend came round, I proudly prepared our meal in my new Remoska and then we Skype'd OH so she could catch up on his news too. About 40 minutes later I realised that I hadn't flicked a switch and our supper was still 1 hour away. I couldn't refuse her when she said "let's get a takeaway"
And then it kept me awake for much of the night because it was so much richer than my own cooking :rotfl:
So today it is a hair shirt and some serious self flagellation.I was hoping for a NSWeek, so I must ensure that I do that next week.
I'm going to have to get earning some extras. I've re-started the surveys, I keep reading the MS's but they're always far away/need company/not suitable for me  So I'm off to the "up your Income" board, I've spent too long reading OS & DFW these last few days.0 -
I am always having similar moments Olive. It is done now and just keep moving forward and seeing what else you can do. Good luck with the surveys though, i got very fed up of being screened out of them so don't bother now.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Onwards and upwards eh Bob? (so long as debt is downwards....)
I've made a list of to do's for tomorrow/Sunday:- shopping - I have a list & a menu plan
combined with:
- bottle bank visit for a smashing time (boxes are overflowing, but are now in the car ready for the off)
- change my bed linen (overdue
)
- If the weather is dry-ish clear the patio, mend the shed door and weed the bed by the shed
- If it is raining (as forecast) get about 20 boxes into the loft, rub down and paint a wall in the bathroom that the lodger will be using, possibly tidy the airing cupboard too
- change the carpet order to something cheaper
DS2 doesn't need heavy domestic wool in his bedroom even if it IS the right colour.:rotfl:
- Write at least 3 scenes of the play.
Not very MSE, except that I'm saving on employing a handyman, and I'm not browsing the shops.
Just need to break the internet bargain shopping habit0 - shopping - I have a list & a menu plan
