  • its a marriage in everything but name. i dont think peoepl are doing thsi just to have teh legal rights, they are using it as a way to commit their love also, thats why theyre having ceremonies, rings and walking down isles and wedding dresses etc.

gay peopel have had commitment ceremonies fo ryear, tehy jit didnt mean anything legally before now. im all for it, i think taht when it comes to love whats between your legs is irelevant.

  • "i cant stand people like you"

"you remind me of the people who talk about my race like "yeah very romantic but theyd better not park their caravans anywhere near me"

i thought race would be brought in somehwere .... cant believe the anger contained within some posters ..

thanks to everyone for the replies .... i will not be going to the wedding and certain younger members have been stopped also... not by me but by parents who do not feel it appropriate to let their 5 year old daughter watch two grown women kiss at the end of a ceremony .

also the parents of the other women are not going either ... "they are working" ... yeh right

at least i can be honest and not attend a ceremony that i am not in agreement with , i hope all the do gooders are happy when this society finally fails , and as mentioned before is it fair that a man and a women can not have this same civil ceremony .

also a child needs a mother and father figure , the goverment know this as they promote marriage..... its been proven that those without a mother and father have a higher chance of commiting a crime or failing in life ... this is fact .

this is my final post on this matter as god knows what is coming next ...
  • Your wifes sister will still be one half of a gay couple no matter if they have a civil cermony or not. she may also remain an 'awful person'. You should go as support for your wife. Maybe they would like to see how a perfect marriage looks.

youd be angry too mate if narrow-minded daily mail readers such as yourself constantly treated you like c**p!

i hope that one day you are on the recieving end of prejudiced bullying and know how it really feels!

what could possibly happen to a 5 yr old from seeing two women kiss? i dont think theyre eyes will burn out!

a child cannot always ahve a father and a mother figure- are you trying to suggest that single parents and widowers etc. dont do a good job?! plus what about all teh kids in care? id sooner see them with two people of the same sex or one person than with a social worker and a care home manager!!!

nowt is gonna happen to thsi society because of same sex marriages but if bigots like you acrry on with your bull shine- thats what will ruin our society

whay dont you jst bog off and join teh bloody BNP theyre looking for peopel just like you!

  • The bottom line is .. you do not like your wifes sister! It makes no difference that she is gay - its just something to rant about BECAUSE you dont like her! At the end of the day..she wil always be your wifes sister and it will cause more trouble by not going than gritting your teeth and going ..albeit disapprovingly. Your wife will feel so self concious without you there..it will probably lead to bad feeling between you and you do not want that. I agree with some of what you say ..but to keep the peace and for the sake of harmony with your wife ..just go.....eat something nice ..and moan when you get home! 4_2_205.gif
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

Anyways, I can't see why gay people would want to marry. Its such a pointless and outdated idea, we should all be going down the 'free love' path.

    Was that an offer?! ;)

  • i don't understand this- you say you're not against gay civil ceremonies but you are against gay adoption - why the difference? there was recently a gay (male) couple on wife swap where 2 men had 2 daughters and the children were well mannered, well brought up and discussed everything (including women's things etc) with their parents. in contrast the hetrosexual father hit his children with a 'paddle'!. just because you have gay or lesbian parents doesn't mean you can't have a family which doesn't love, protect and provide for its children. saying that no one should be forced to do anything they feel uncomfortable with- the family should not put pressure if you really don't want to go. to be honest i couldn't care less if people are straight, gay. lesbian or anything else. all that matters is the couple consist of consenting informed adults and they love, protect and provide for their children.

Whilst I don't think you should go to the wedding if you don't like the person, I don't see what harm seeing two people kissing will do to children. But their parents probably think they are doing the best thing for their children, and hasn't been done maliciously.

But don't you think that that contradicts the previous argument of the child of a gay couple being bullied?

By preventing social interaction with people who are outside of the "norm", won't this just lead to further misunderstanding and prejudice in the furture?

Everyone is different, and unless the difference is causing actual harm to other parties (eg someone thinks it's okay to go around stabbing people), why are we so intent on different being wrong?

The other thing I would like to point out is that the within a lesbian couple, there usually will be a father figure and a mother figure.

I'm not saying all homosexual people are great people who make great parents, I'm just saying that all homosexual people are NOT terrible people who make terrible parents.
