  • Sorry, I'm out-of-date with my info. Looks like they closed that little loophole last June.
    Leaving Virgin.net Broadband:
If you ordered Virgin.net Broadband on or after 7th June 2005 and you wish to leave, you'll need to give us 30 days notice of your cancellation. In addition, while we don't tie you into a 12 month contact (unlike most broadband providers), we do reserve the right to apply a £50 cancellation charge if your service is cancelled within 12 months of activation. Unfortunately, this charge is necessary due to the cost of activating your broadband service.

  • I agree - most peeps wouldnt have a clue where to begin installing an os.
  • So back to square one then. I will get the talk talk cheaper due to having a line and calls with them so this seems a good option?

I've got a question for you techies:

I have just bought this laptop and it came with aol tiscali and wannadoo on it is it advisable to remove this, what about the mcafee as it seems to take forever to start up is this because of all the stuff on it?

I would personally remove Tiscali AOL and Wanadoo in Add/Remove programs in
Control Panel, They may only be setup.exe files on the desktop.. but add/remove first.

And keep Mcafee if its a trial freebie when trial up then remove and get different stuff.

    That may be the easiest.
  • mcafee can slow a pc. rather like norton. If you want av software then choose the free avg.
  • Edit : read TOGs post about the £50..

re mcafee , are you using XP or 98/me
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Will that remove all of the software including the things in the bottom right (xp home)? Is that why it is slow?

  • Mcafee should be alright on XP, there are problems with the latest dats and engine on 98/ME.

Are you fully patched, anti spywared , have plenty of RAM etc..?

Avast is ok if you want a freebie replacement..

I'd take a close look at the Talk Talk forum here. Had a quick look and it doesn't look too good.

    Caveat Emptor.
