Afternoon, everyone. Hope you're all having a good day. I'm at mum's tonight, so rather happy to not have to cook
Then, on to the first major food shop of the month. I think my cold has kicked to a new level - after going for a hot chocolate at lunchtime I was sick and haven't really felt too spry all afternoon. Ah, well. Nearly the end of the day now, and tomorrow is another day.
Left my cross-stitch at work
Was going to work on that tonight, too. Nothing else has really happened of any note. Hope everyone has a good evening.
(((hugs to those in need or down)))

Hiya! :hello:
Cheapskate So sorry to hear about your dad.
redruby Lets hope that justice is done for your brother and nephew.
Cruiksl We got a wii and wiifit for xmas and by new years eve, DH had managed to smash the light shade playing tennis and then did his back in whilst playing baseball with DD(8)!!! Unfortunately I've had to listen to him moaning at night about his sore back! (plonker)
I can't believe how cold it has been today! One of my friends from church managed to slip in a carpark yesterday and broke her arm. She said that the casualty dept was full of ladies with similar injuries.
Yesterday I waited in for my Boots delivery and only one of the packages turned up and I'm still waiting for the other one. Anyway it gave me the opportunity to stay in and blitz the house after taking all of the xmas decs down.
I've been busy over the past couple of days using the sc and doing some cooking for eating/freezing etc. So far I've made spag bol, sausage stew and turkey and leek pies. The freezer is filling up again nicely
This morning I helped at our church Drop In and surprisingly we had quite a few visitors. I thought that the cold weather and the thought of a freezing church would deter some of the older ones from coming, but I think that they were in need of some company.
DH and both of the girls returned to school yesterday and I'm due to go back in on Thursday. Tomorrow I'm taking DD(8) to the dentist so that he can 'persuade' 2 of her wobbly baby teeth to come out, as her adult ones are starting to grow at funny angles. Then in the afternoon we're due at the hospital for an follow up appointment for her peanut allergy.
I haven't really made any resolutions this year, but I would like to slow down a bit and make a bit more 'me' time, so I might even get to post on here a little more often.
Right I'm off to heat up some sausage stew and bread rolls for our tea.
Have a cosy evening!:D0 -

First time I had a chance to come on today.
took dd to playgroup this morning, went by car since hubby is still at home and I was running late. DD loved to be back at playgroup.
Then came home, made lunch, and when I was cleaning on top of a shelf I found a tin (flylady mission...lol) and in that tin was 25 USD, 10 Euros, 600 Czech Korunas so I went to the post office and got just over £40 for it, which went into my "I save for a Kenwood chef"-jar and I am sooooooooooooo close now... £245 in it now...
Then went out for a very cold walk to the park and had coffee in our local community golf club (which is the extraordinary expense of 50p per mug) and DD had a shortbread.
Really good day... the sink is still shiny, DH brought some stuff to the recycling, I sorted clothes out from DD to pass on to sil for her little girl, did some painting with DD (Asda bottle paints for kids are 99p per 300ml bottle much cheaper than the stuff from ELC).
Dinner experiment was a desaster tough, it's rare that a meal of mine doesn't work out. I got a food hamper for Xmas and in it was Red Rice so I thought I make a salad with it. None of us liked it... oh dear...0 -
A freezing cold day here, managed to get to the allotment and brought leeks, brussels and some apples I had in store back. Leek and lentil soup for lunch, went to zizz it with the stick blender and could not get the d*** thing to fit together, so its in the bin......that will teach me to buy a cheapie!!! I hate using the food processor to zizz soup it takes longer to clean than it takes to do the soup.
Have managed to do a bit more knitting this afternoon, in between cooking the sauce for spag bol for supper. We finished off the apple, rhubarb and ginger crumble from Sunday. Fridge is looking a bit less crowded.......
After loosing a lot of info when my hard disc failed in the summer I bought a portable hard disc which came yesterday, I also have 2 GB free on a web storage site, so have also backed everything on to that. If I lost all my embroidery designs I would be ssssssooooooooo mad.
Right OH watching darts, I am going to do some more knitting and watch Country House Rescue..........
Have a good evening.......................ooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh I have just noticed Ive a medal, what did I do to get that?????Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hugs to all that need them particularly large ones for cheapskate and mudgekin, reading your posts certainly puts my moans in perspective!
Had a cosy day today, just ventured out to the library and to pick up some bits in coop but had most of the weeks meals in fridge or freezer.
Had a jummy sandwich made from toasted rye and sunflower bread from the BM and left over sausages from sunday dinner.
Spent a while looking through a great afternoon tea book that i got for cchristmas.
Better pop off for dinner now - OH is dishing up! Got an interview tomorrow so will spend teh rest of the evening swotting.

Evening all,
Had to rush off earlier to take OH to the QE to have his ear checked, he perforated it when we were teenagers, by diving from the high board at the local swimming baths, nothing fancy at the baths then, we all used to spend most of the summer hols in either there, the park or up the Lickey Hills.
oooo crikey that was along time ago, I was a real 60's babe and loved every minute of it, rock and roll, back-combed hair, pointy white high heeled shoes with cotton wool stuffed up the toes to stop them curling up:rotfl: ....yes really.....Gone right off track now, I keep doing that lately
Well the upshot of the check up was, nothing can be done, we knew that already, it all came about because OH was getting a bit hard of hearing, but the hearing aid cant be fitted in his perforated ear, so it had to go in the other one, and he has to go to Selly Oak for a re-fit on the 15th.
Hiya tiredmum and twink I was wondering where you were, nice to see you both back
Cheapskate - I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your dad, you and your family will be in my prayers tonight x
Sunnygirl - oooo your dinner sounds yummy,
Karriebee - good luck for tomorrow
Welcome to all the newbies, you will love it in here, but be warned its very addictive;)
Had beef stew for Dinner and mince pie afterwards, sent over by MIL yesterday, (goodness knows why she buys so many)
We took the decs down earlier and packed them all away in the loft, I can give everything a real good clean after I get back from the dentist tomorrow.
Sending lots of (((hugs))) out to all tonight, it seems a lot of us are feeling the need lately xx
Off to watch some TV now, and finish off a premmie baby hat I started last night.

:j I can highly recommend Potato Bake as a yummy, filling, comfort food type meal
Even my dd, who at 16 doesn't eat big meals, scoffed it down & asked for some for lunch tomorrow at her college work placement - she's doing nursery nursing & is at a primary school with a Yr1 class every other week. I was amazed LOL! Tomorrow we're going to have a big fritatta (sp?) as it's a good way of using up more potatoes and the veg still lurking at the back of the fridge :rotfl: 0
