Hi all - just got back and sat here with a much-needed coffee.
RedRuby - I hope everything works out well with the case. What a horrible experience.
Cheapskate - so very sorry to hear of your loss. (((Hugs))) to you.
Mudgekin - you're having such a hard time, the freezer was just the last straw. That's happened to me - when it was someone else's fault - and I've wept at the waste. (((Hugs)) to you.
Elona - keeping fingers crossed about the house. It's about time we had some good news on here, isn't it? It's such a trying time for lots of people.
Aussie - glad Benny is back home with you.
Pink-winged - hope Tilly is doing well now.
Well, I've been out in the freezing cold but was well-wrapped up. The sun is really bright and it's not windy so it's just about bearable. I'm collecting DGS from school this afternoon so I shall put the heating on a bit earlier so it's warm for him (and me!).
I'm at work tomorrow morning so I hope I don't oversleep like I did this morning. I really really hate getting up late! It throws me out for the rest of the day.
Dinner tonight is curry (with yet more turkey!) and rice, followed by bread-and-butter pudding which I made yesterday. DGS won't have the curry but he'll have chips, turkey and salad - his favourite.
Well, I must go and get the dough out of the BM and divide it up into loaves and then have some lunch.

Well not sure what i am going to do today! Still in bed in warmth - i am signed off work sick after all.
Been back to Dr's today and he thinks i have side effects after a bug and could take 12 weeks to clear!!! Given me pills to stop diarreah and pain so hoping to be back to work next week!!! I have a lot to do!! Am getting blood taken to check its not anything worse than IBS!!!
Will update depending on if i get out of bed!!0 -
morning all!! am struggling to get back into getting up early in the mornings but so far so good. made carrot and lentil soup this morning and have just had a bowlful and it was delish!!
Have also delivered all my avon books and although it was cold i quite enjoyed the walk. Hoovered upstairs landing and need to do downstairs and clean kitchen sink. dinner tonight will be cheesburgers and wedgies me thinks.
Yesterday morning DS (13) informed me that before christmas he split his school shoes - i was not happy, why on earth did he wait until 10 minutes before he had to leave for school?!! Secondly as it had been snowing i had to force him into his trainers (his school has a very strict no trainer policy) much to his disgust. I had to take my other son to the orthodontist at 3.30pm so couldnt pick him up and take him to get some new shoes. I entrusted him with £20 and told him to buy some new shoes after school. instructions were - make sure they fit, are black and suitable for school and all weathers. Got home from orthodontist and asked if he got some shoes. Oh yes you'll love them he said. What did he get? A pair of black converse type boots that are made of canvas!!! Had to agree that they are quite nice (they are) but how much more unsuitable could they be for bad weather and school! So i will have to get him into town at the weekend to get something more appropriate. Kids!! Did chuckle though as i did something similar when i was his age except i went home with a pair of bright green flatties that were a size too big! (green was very big that year - honest) My mum made me wear them to school everyday that term and i pretty soon learnt my lesson!
anyway that all for me.
Hugs to those that need them!!0 -
Afternoon everyone :hello:
First of all ((((hugs))) to cheapskate, sorry to hear about you dad

I did all my housework before hubby came back for lunch, as i have my routine back now for my jobs, even the little one was going round the bedrooms with a cloth :rotfl: bless! I done some washing, and got some dried, hoovered upstaires, cleaned the bathroom, sorted out tea.......we are having chicken dinner, and im still waiting for my slow cooker, hurry up parcel truck!!

More washing in, breadmaker on...
Little bear does not want to nap. But he is now too tired to eat or anything. The sooner he gets used to 'big boys bed' the less like an advert for a children's charity he will look. I am not sure the last sentence was grammatical. I am not sleeping well either.
Hugs to all - especially those suffering and those who have lost close ones.
I want to go to sleep, but I have a Mr S delivery and I can't remember what I ordered
It sounds like something is being demolished at the back of us, so the people living there must be playing out, even in this weather. I do hope that they keep their indoor noise down a bit so that little bear can sleep.

Cheapskate-so sorry about your dad.
Well I've been to the dentist this morning as a filling came out over Christmas, and my mouth is still a bit numb.Felt a bit daft doing a bit of shopping after when I had to speak-all came out in a mumble.
Got some mini gammon steaks from the market-had them before and its the best gammon stk I've ever had.Even though they are mini it is plenty enough for a meal,so will have them for tea. Also some pot herbs, and ready soaked peas so soup making this aft.
I also need to peel a load of the Aldi spuds, prep and freeze before they go soft.We have used up the ones i did for Christmas and they've been great.
Better go,I suspect DH & DS2 will be home earlier than normal as they are working outside today, poor things.
Hugs to those in need.xxx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Well, as predicted didn't get a lot OS done last night. Evening meeting didn't finish till 10. I don't get paid for them I'm supposed to take time off in lieu but sometimes it's difficult to do.
Did give the kitchen a good clean though before bed. This morning I emptied the DW, made porridge and took stuff out of the freezer for tonight's meal. DS has had days off since Saturday (works for Lidl) so I didn't have to make his sandwiches.
DD rang to say there was a pic in the Sunday Express of Rebecca Adlington and her B/f who is my cousin's son. Not much of a claim to fame though as I've not seen the cousin for over 30 years and never met his children (I have around 30 cousins scattered around the place, mum was one of 10).
Hope to continue sorting paperwork in study tonight and do a bit of washing.

Hiya still flaming freezing here and still got the snow we had on the ground yesterday morning.According to hubby the temp dropped down to -6 here last night. Its supposed to be colder tonight brrr feel like a flaming penguin.Fish anyone??:rotfl:
On the household front, I did a fruit inventory and found a 1.5kg bag of bananas that lurked undiscovered until blackened. So they are now mushed and languishing in the oven as banana bread.I was hoping to find more wrinkly apples and pears than I did so that I could turn them into a crumble for pud but after palming the odd few off on the kids I have none left and cant justify using the new ones for the purpose so I'll have to think of something else to have for pud
BM is on with plain dough to make some teacakes for the lunchboxes tomorrow.I want to make some pizza dough for the freezer and some chocolate bread too so I reckon it will be working overtime today
Got some ironing to do later and another load to put in the washer.
I've taken some pork chops out of the freezer to have with the leftover mash from last night and some veggies and gravy

Hugs to all needing or wanting them, especially Cheapskate and Churchmouse.
Tree coming down tomorrow so not hoovering to-day as living room and hall will be full of pine needles to-morrow.
OH in day hospital, will have his lunch there, will only have cheese or something later on....we were given lots of cheese at Christmas and its not being eaten fast enough.
DGS2 back to school tomorrow so will have to be up early...like that as if I don't get moving in the morning I find it very difficult to move later and feel tired and sluggish all day.
Off to Edinburgh on Friday for Saturday wedding, home on Sunday afternoon...meeting at least one OSer there for lunch on Friday. Looking forward to that.
Apparently is is 2c here at present...feels colder but so long as we have no snow I can handle the cold.
Collecting someone from airport at 9.30 to-night so hope that they are suffering from jetlag so I don't have to stay up too long! That is unkind I know but we can talk to-morrow!
Have a good day all and stay warm
