  • Morning Everyone, I haven't read the thread as I have to dash into town in a mo.

I just wanted to thank everybody for your kind words and advice. I have taken the decision, after talking to DP again to speak to my line manager today about stepping down from my manager role. It seems to be the extra pressure I receive as part of that role that makes my anxieties about work worse and I hope that this may make it more bearable for me. Hopefully she will understand, we will manage without the extra money, we've done it before and we'll do it again. It will be fine...I hope!

Wish me Luck, feeling very nervous.

I'm sorry I haven't read the thread today, but I hope everyone is ok and big hugs for those of you who arent.

    Good morning all!

Cheapskate - my condolences, and welcome back xx

Cruiksl - I didn't know you could buy tinned haggis! Got a pic of the tin so I know what to look for, ds likes it and it'd be handy to have some in for when he fancies. Finding chilled haggis can be hard here, though with Burns Night approaching I'm sure there will be some around for a while! Anyway guess what I shall be asking his dad to fill his hand luggage with when he's in Edinburgh later this week lol! Hope your day has improved and nobody else has dropped/thrown/spilt anything! Take Peyton's advice and feed the dog after your ds lol!

Mudgekin - what a pain about your freezer, that would have been enough to make me weep, never mind anything else! Hope that the tears made you feel a bit better, sometimes you just need to let it all out, and after your oh's diagnosis you must be stressed beyond all sense.

Hilstep - euch! A dead fox, perhaps it was good that it was frozen as well.

Beemuzed - oh, knee socks and skirts, yep I remember those, blue knees for most of the year, and the wind whistling up my nether regions as I tramped across the village common on the 3 mile walk to school. No wonder my kids think I'm talking about Victorian times when I tell them they're lucky to be able to wear trousers (boys had to wear shorts until they were 14 at my school!), and to catch the school bus from the end of the road!

Cold here, much like everywhere else, but the sun has come out and is now shining brightly. Heating on very low, I'd like it just warm enough to allow me to get some sleep later!

OS wise I've got dough in the BM for the kids lunch rolls, will put it in moski at lunchtime for a second rising, and because i like the way the rolls come out in a very deli posh type round! Washing has all been put away, it was clean lol! More to be done, but that never changes! Quickly whizzed round with the hoover and tidied the morning mess. Dinner is veg and bean stew with harissa, in the SC now and starting to waft through the house, smells delicious, will serve it with couscous. Mini apple pies for pud, seems to be a theme on here today, mini fruit pies!

I need to find somewhere to store the wrapping paper I've bought for next year, and somewhere for all the jars I save for jams and chutneys and pickling. And the utility could do with a good mop.

Postie brought me a nice pressie this morning from my bro-in-law, a bottle of wine and some cheeses, will enjoy those on Friday after my birthday dinner that the kids are cooking for me! Also got a £5 off a £30 spend voucher from Matalan, no use by date that I can see, so I shall pop it in my purse and then it'll be ready when I'm next in there! Also got the bookpeople sale catalogue, best not to look at that one lol! And the Haven brochure, will see where the kids fancy a weekend or two camping, hard to believe that we will want to sleep outside when the weather is below freezing right now! But it'll be nice to have something to look forward to, and hopefully we'll pick times that coincide with sunny weather!

Many hugs to all in need, have a good day all xx

    Edit:

Undercover Angel - good luck with your meeting with your manager, many people step up and down from management roles where I work, you just have to do what is best for you, sometimes quality of life is far more important than money.

    Morning again,

Wm has been on and washing is blowing on the line, should only need a bit of an air tonight. DW been on and emptied, two lots of soup on the go, leek and potato and roast squash and garlic, yum, will have some for lunch.

Have hoovered through, mopped floors, and am now waiting for sainsbugs to deliver so that I can prep the lamb casserole for tonight, got dd's rolls to make up for the rest of this week and then I might have a rest

I don't know if you remember, but last year my eldest nephew was abused by a man, who had invited him back to his flat, nephew has a learning difficulty, and willingly went back with the man, long story, but my brother ended up smacking the man in the mouth, broke his jaw and man was hospitlised (good), anyway the case is in court this week, and the man is denying everything, and saying that he has never met nephew, the man was in and out of hospital for weeks with his jaw as an infection set in, so I don't know how he will explain that away, anyway my mum has been called as a witness today, as newhew phoned her at two in the morning begging for mum to find him. I so hope that he gets found guilty,so am sitting here waiting for news, I do hope he gets done. I will keep you posted.

Hugs to Cheapskate, so sorry for your loss xx

mudgekin, hugs to you too hun xx

Sainsbugs have arrived, better go xx

    Morning,

The day has got better ! Ds settled into playgroup fine so have managed to pop home, empty and reload wm and td and checked on my bread - it looks lush !

Also popped into the local garage as my mum has been waiting for a bill with them for a few months. We've known the family that runs it for years so I offered my services if they were looking for temp staff. Have been thinking about it for weeks and glad I've done it even if it doesn't come to anything. I usually do family learning/tutoring and normally have 5 x 2 hour classes a week that fit in with the kids but there's no budget so only have 1 class, although I have managed to get myself booked to take a jewellery class for 10 weeks. It's a big drop in earnings not having work, hence the reason I'm tightening my belt.

Off to walk the hairy beast (dog)

    PS - Here's a tin of haggis

    Hello everybody,

Well it's not fffffffreezing here. It's hhhhhhhhot. :D Benny is home now. :T Very glad to see us. It's hard to look at him without your stomach turning. His eyelid is stapled up and the other eye looks _pale_ . 2 hourly drops until Friday night. I'll be shattered by then. Iv'e got DGS the next four nights as well. :D No rest for the wicked.

Got home from shopping & made a chocolate cake, bread & passionfruit cordial. Tackled the Linen Cupboard this arv & DGS cupboard. Sorted out all clothes that didn't fit into a huge bag to give back to XDIL. ;) Too easy. :D
I now have some more much needed space.

Cheapskate Sorry to hear of your sad loss. I hope 2009 is much brighter for you all.

  • Hi Guys!

Not read all the thread, so hope all is ok.

Its so cold here atm and still have the curtains drawn to keep the warmth in. Temp is sitting at -4 outside currently and we have the GCH and fire on too and a blanket over me. Will get a water bottle soon. Feeling sorry for myself atm as I dont feel too good.

OH did a freezer inventory for me yesterday and I have planned the next 30 meals at least and probably could do another 2 weeks after:eek:

WM has been on and OH is ironing as I type. DW has been on and emptied. Everywhere is clean and tidy.

Have taken soup out the freezer for lunch and have a lamb stew in the SC which dumplings will be added to later.

    Hugs to all.

Redruby I am so sorry to hear about your nephew but good for your brother. I would have done the same I'm afraid. I do hope that creature is found guilty and that your mum is ok in court and that no charges are brought against your brother.

    (((redruby))) and (((cheapskate)))

It is really cold here so going to put the central heating on for a while and then make veg soup in the slowcooker. Our kitchen gets so cold that the dishwasher freezes upon the inside!!!

On tenterhooks at the moment as we think we might hear from the estate agents about an offer on our house. Must not look desperate but are well aware that it is a buyers market at the moment.

Hoping the viewers have not listened to the news on house prices today as that will have scared them off!

Hello Chums another very cold day here in North Kent .I am just about to go to the library to get some books for my essay about domestic sevants in the Victorian Age.I have about three layers of clothes on, plus hat, scarf and gloves and I shall be in and out and back home as soon as I can.
Snow is forcast for tomorrow ,but I havn't any shopping to get until Friday.
<<hugs to those who are feeling down or dad and poorly>> it's a miserable time of the year ,but every day it gets two minutes lighter in the evening which is good. Roll on the spring and we may all feel a bit brighter as well.
Beef stew is for dinner tonight from my freezer with some garlicky mashed potatos. Right off to brave the cold ,take care all
