mioliere - more turkey! Is that not taking OS to extremes

Donny_gal - don't be angry, that will make your BP worse.... Hope you get it sorted out soon though.
Meanmarie - enjoy your trip to Edinburgh and your meet up with a fellow MSE'r. Hope the wedding goes with a swing :T
Hi Sweetpeanut - I'm sure you'll find the OS board very useful, welcome
I hope that you're all warm and cosy, where ever you may be. Don't let yourself get cold, it's not worth it.
Enjoy the rest of the day :j0 -
Penny-Pincher!! wrote: »Hi Guys!
OH did a freezer inventory for me yesterday and I have planned the next 30 meals at least and probably could do another 2 weeks after:eek:

Pretty much the same here with the freezer, I got all keen with my whoopsied haul of fruit and veg at the weekend and got cooking, have just had the 2nd bowl of carrot and coriander soup that I couldn't really get into the freezer. Will make whoopsied mushrooms into some soup for me for the next couple of days, which I shall enjoy.
made too much bread for the freezer realistically speaking, so we're having egg, beans and toast meal tonight to alleviate that problem. Will go and kick the freezer again later to see if stuff will shake down a bit more.
I haven't ever really had a space issue with the freezer before, but got a whole lamb a little while ago and there are still 2 masssive legs, 2 shoulders and some chops left. Have also got a big heap of ready meals, lots of half price spread and some semi milk frozen. I did this for dec and decided I liked not having to go out just for milk. I don't usually have cake in there, but there are a few things I made (nigella's almond cake, nutella cake and a doz scones.)
Now I need to squeeze in the apples from the whoopied haul, the ones that won't go on the fruit bowl. Fancy some scabby apples ravylesley?
Feel so much better having come in from work cold and having soup. How do people manage who don't like soup? Now am in and out of the cold again loading the bin and the recycling and hacking the christmas tree to bits. Promised myself a cuppa after that. WWith the books I got from the library...
Stay warm everyone."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Just a quick one (matron :rotfl: ). Haven't read the tread as am supposed to be working
. Mr Rage's washing done this morning (he was too slow for the WM on Monday - ha ha ha - so I made the load up with his football kit!). Beef stew from the freezer with jackets and slow cooked white cabbage for dinner. Going out tonight to Wickes (ooh the excitement :rotfl: ) to price a kitchen for the other house. Mr Rage is finally at the stage where we can think about it - a year after the tenants left...... I'd just go for the cheapest (£980 on sale price) but Mr Rage will need to "think about it"..... let's just hope he thinks about it before the sale finishes...... Still it is next-door to tesco so I will be able to do a top up shop there and get airmiles....right back to work! PS it's very cold here was -7 last night and predicted to be colder tonight. I've had to un-ice the bird baths twice already and will be popping out in about another 30 mins to do it again. No wonder all the birdies were waiting for me this morning. I keep telling my budgies how lucky they are but they just look at me with compelte disdain.....:D But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

Freezing here today..have had to go and smash the water out of the hens water bowls and refil...frozen solid.
Have 2 hens indoors...one who has peritonitis who is off to see an avian specialist on monday so fingers crossed she can have some fluid drained off and be more comfortable. Wont be cheap but my ex battery girls are so special to me. The other hen was going to be PTS by the farmer at the battery farm when we did our last rescue:mad: but i said 'pass me that poorly hen' and after loads of tlc she is a normal happy girl albeit a house hen:rolleyes:
Anyway enough hen chat.
Have stripped my bed and its in wm, another load already on the airer. Am just about to do the veggies for tea to have with a steak and vegetable teviot pie from mr Ts. Wish i knew how to make one of those teviot pies as they are yummy.
Have to pick ds up from college soon and the roads are bad..my jeep doesnt like slippery roads
Will be taking the xmas decs down when ds gets the boxes from the attic later on...will be glad to see the back of them!
Think i will do some pancakes later as have a glut of eggs..with 10 girls still laying i get about 6-7 eggs a day..always end up selling about 2-3 dozen a week but seem to have a glut at the mo.
Big hugs to everyone who has lost loved ones and to anyone who is poorly...get well soon.
Feel so inspired reading the daily thread thanks guys

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: wish my cat would sit on my washing lolMorning all
Can't do any washing today as eldest fat cat is all curled up on the washing pile - being that he's so old and obviously needs his sleep, it would be cruel to disturb him wouldn't it? :rotfl:
.

Purpleivy despite your kind offer of those delicious sounding wrinkly apples I'm afraid I must decline:rotfl: I've spent the afternoon peeling and chopping fruit to make a huge lock and lock container full of fruit salad which will keep the family supplied with puddings for a couple of days of course it will have to be served with ice cream as heaven forbid they eat anything too healthy:D
I'm loving the idea of the washing sitting cat as an excuse not to do the washing has anyone got one I could borrow:D

Essex-girl, fingers crossed re your interview result.
Cheapskate, sorry to hear about your Dad.
Undercover Angel, I think you’re doing a sensible thing to see about stepping down, A lady I used to work with did a similar thing when she got promoted and found the pressure too much; in her case, the new post entailed going out to inspect properties, which she hated, so she asked to go back to her old grade, which was just office-based. Anyway, good luck.
Redruby – fingers crossed re the court case. Your poor nephew; as someone who was myself abused as a child, I really do feel for him.
((((Hugs)))) to Churchmouse, Mudgekin, Aussie & Benny, PinkWinged & Tilly, Penny-Pincher, Cazspatch, and anyone else who needs one today.
We have the second half of yesterday’s Shepherd Spy for dins tonight – luckily I thought to put a sploshette of Tabasco in it, so it’s a nice warming meal. Needs to be – Mr LW told me it got down to -8 on the drive to w*rk this morning. He’s also taken the last Lemsip from his emergency kit; I hope he’s not getting man-flu.
Baking day today – Welsh tartlets, apple pie and bread rolls. At least doing that lot will warm the bungalow up a bit! I do have a war wound though; managed to cut myself – on a bag of flour!! And boy, don’t paper cuts hurt!_pale_
My back is also giving me some major grief, but hopefully the dose of Oramorph I’ve just taken will sort it out.
Postie has just delivered something addressed to a house the other end of the estate - for the 2nd time! It came through the door the other day, we put it back in the mail, and lo and behold, here it is again.:wall::wall::wall: What's worse, our own mail isn't being delivered to us. I know for a fact of no less than four items that have been posted to me recently that have never arrived. Royal Mail don't seem to care, though.
Oops, this is turning into "War And Peace"; I'd better shut up now.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
:hello: Good afternoon! Didn't manage to post on here y'day but I did read the thread
(((((HUGS))))) to Churchmouse,Elona, Smokybabe, mudgekin, cheapskate, Penny_Pincher, redruby, cazspatch, donny-gal and everyone else who needs some.
Aussielass - poor Benny, I bet he's glad to be home. Hopefully his "good" eye will look better very soon. Once the staple is taken out of his eyelid the other one will just look as if it's closed.
Pink-Winged -I hope DD1 enjoyed his ski-ing trip and isn't too distraught about poor Tilly.
Hilstep - I'm glad you are managing to drive, at least! I hope the extra steroids will help.
lka200 - i think the Teviot pies are made like ordinary pies, but have suet crust pastry (really easy to make, the instructions are on the suet packet!) on top instead of shortcrust or puff pastry. I occasionally do something a bit similar by cooking stewing steak or mince on the hob and putting some suet crust on the top (inside the saucepan) for the last 20 mins or so. (I think it's 20 minutes, but don't quote me, as I haven't done it for ages.)
Pooky - We used to have a cat that liked to sit in the washing basket - she usually waited until it was full of clean washing, mind you:rolleyes:
Welcome to our new posters and Welcome Back to Furrypig, we miss you, hope you'll have a chance to post more often.
Had a look at the Flylady thread yesterday and now have a much cleaner bathroom
It seemed much easier, knowing that lots of other people were cleaning theirs too
Haven't dared look today though, in case it's the kitchen! Someone mentioned recently on the "confessions" thread that two of the kitchen drawer fronts have come off. Mine haven't done that (yet) but I have a stack of 4 drawers and can only use the top two. If I open the third or fourth, the ones above fall off their runners because the cabinet is so elderly, so the things like tea towels, foil, clingfilm, freezer bags can't be put away. The tea towels live on top of the T/D and the other things are on the worktop above the drawers
Monday's shepherd's pie came out very nice, though I did find it was rather rich compared to cottage pie. I noticed a can of baby carrots in the cupboard which were a few months past their "best before" date, opened them and they smelled fine and were still the right colour, so I put them in with the lamb mince, and we had frozen peas too.
Yesterday we had the last of the turkey curry :j:D and today is Mr S steak pie, mash and cauli. I just remembered there's a small gammon joint at the back of the fridge too, so will cook that tomorrow.
We've been having porridge for breakfast the last few days, as the thought of cereal with cold milk atm is:eek:
all for now
best wishes

Anyone who would like a cat to sit on their washing can have evil cat - I will pay her fare. However she cannot distinguish between dirty washing and clean ironing...
Permanent bollards have been put over the end of our road, due to Her Three Doors Down. I am unimpressed. In fact, I could cry. It just makes life that little bit harder, that little bit more complicated. Well, I am just waiting for all the bangs because it is a blind corner, and all of a sudden this afternoon bollards sprouted, like Jack in the Beanstalk but more of a neighbour dispute sort of thing. All sorts of people take short cuts down here.
Feeling a high dippy factor coming on...
Need to put away the delivery, and somehow work out to do something for tea.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Hi Again!
I cooked the 10kg of new potatoes that dh brought home yesterday. It took my four largest pans - one of them a huge stockpot!! They're cooling now but I decided to use almost half a pan of them in our evening meal. Instead of pasta bake we're having potatoe bake LOL!! I cooked off an onion, 2 red peppers & some chopped bacon then made a cheese sauce, mixed it all together with the halved potatoes & piled into a roasting tin. Grated cheese over the top & it's in the oven now. It smells yummy. I'll let you know how it turned out later. It's still freezing here it was toasty in the kitchen though when I had all four pans of pots cooking ;-D0
