having read through this thread, most of what i see is people moaning about things that were in the T&C that they chose not to read.

i do apologise if the terms and conditions were not as they are now when the individuals signed up, but the current T&C are very clear, and nothing posted here isnt covered.

maybe they cleared them up!! i signed up this month.

I too cant see what all the fuss is about...

I have recently called customer services to ask what happens IF i wanted to close the account.

They DO NOT withdraw your bonus (at least not anymore)
You will be charged £5 for having any non-bonus credit returned.
The bonus credit will not be returned to you as it has no cash equivalent

As far as the 75p min charge, if you really are not going to spend £1.67 a month (i.e £5 in 3 months) then easymobile is not for you

This is clearly stated in the terms and conditions

They have also made changes to the £10 'overdraft' facility. you can opt out by contacting customer services

    I have no complaints myself,

I agree. I can see that any bonus top-up could be earned and then withdrawn, thereby leaving EasyMobile out of pocket, so I suspect that these measures are there to protect against people taking advantage of this.

If you don't want your account then you can't just disgard your SIM card as the 75p charge will mount up, so obviously it needs closing. The overdraft facility is the thing that may mean you have to pay them back. It says it's opt-out, so you get it by default.

A number of my family signed up because the tariff is excellent as well as cashback and credit, and it uses t mobile network which works great where we are. You get free calls / texts days too in these early promotional times.

I read through all the t and c so am not complaining about the deal at all, but I have opted out of the overdraft facility and avoided the overseas aspect because you could run up a small debt. Just by not using it you will incur 75p per month and again you could get into debt in the years ahead through oversight. There is a small fine also if they freeze your account if £10 overdrawn, similar to the cancellation charge.

If you are prepared to put a few minutes into managing the account and not just chuck the sim in the drawer it looks a great deal. It's just not a conventional PAYG deal.
  • Apologies for posting this twice, but I would love someone to give me some advice.
Please don't call me an idiot/fool/imbecile/etc, as I am sure I can read properly and, as I understand it, the T&C state that Easy Mobile will charge £5 for cancelling if you want excess credit returned. Otherwise, there is no mention of any cancellation fees or charges.
My account had £5.31 of 'free' credit left on it (which I did not want back). I cancelled my account. WHOP! Account instantly £2.02 in the red. I have checked my statement and it now says "£7.33 bonus withdrawal". Now where the *ell did that come from?
I now have 72 hours to pay this or they charge me another £5.
I think this is scandellous and surely illegal(?), or have I missed an obvious paragraph in their T&C somewhere?

I have just tried to close one of my accounts but they are wanting my bank details. As I only have 58p left I do not need to get this refunded! Is there any wayof getting this closed wothout divulging my details?

Try putting a Zero there instead. It indicates that you do not want the balance refunded...... worked for me earlier in the year.

Hmmn.... I just opted out of the overdraft facility and here is the reply,

    "Dear Road_Hog

    Thank you for your e-mail.

We can remove this facility; however you must be aware that whilst we make
every effort to ensure a block is applied as close to zero as possible, we
    can not guarantee it.

If you have any other queries please respond to this e-mail without altering
    the subject.

    Best regards

I just tried to close an account online which only had £6 on it for some reason even though I should of had about £30 of bonus credit.

When I closed the account which was +£6 I wasn't expecting -£28 only the £5 charge. I hope this can be sorted out when there customer service line opens as when I closed the account my credit had vanished into thin air.

I wish I had read this first. If you put 0 in the bank account section they won't charge you?
