  • OK - so I've cheated a little. I've moved some money from the deposit pot to pay extra towards my CC. But having contacted nationwide, it seems my interest free balance transfer expires on 08/05/09, which meant I would have had to pay interest on the amount outstanding between then and payday 20 days later.

So I have now brought my debt free date forward to 28/04/09 - only 50 days away. Wow - £1,600 in 50 days averages £32 a day. Just think how much my deposit pot will soar once the debt's clear. I suppose that also means my diary will have to finish then, too.

  • Well - living together is still a year away and the wedding will come whenever. It's just a bit of paper to me. I think my brain is wired like a man's in that respect! I'd rather overpay the mortgage and reduce the term than spend over £10k on feeding people I haven't seen in years!

Just when I get close to the end of my journey, someone comes along to push me back.

Well... turns out that the internal transfer I applied for is available again. Wish they could make up their b---dy minds!

So HR have asked me if I'm still interested and you know what? Even after they messed me around and even though my job is safe (for the time being) I still want it. It just seems much more "me" than what I'm doing at the moment. It's still construction, I'd still have the same employer... having spoken to my dad, it has now occurred to me that I may NOT have to accept the pay cut if I move to the department I want to.
