My debt free diary... Unless I get scared!

Haven't a clue yet. It's going to be fairly small though - couldn't afford to have everyone there as my mum has 7 siblings and my dad has 5. With the number of cousins etc on my side, the guest list would be almost 200! So we're thinking small. After all, it's the marriage that's important...
I see that your moving out fund has also increased - well done. Any time frame yet?Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
I agree, the marriage is more important than the wedding. I think sometimes that gets lost when people plan a massive 500 people event! Plus all the planning would drive me nuts!
Well, initially it was May, but now it's next February!! I'm moving back to my mums as my OH doesnt want to rent. So hopefully in a year combined we'd have a 15% deposit and the banks will be lending again so we can buy. Scary stuff really but we know its for the best!Feb /make £5 a day Challenge £32.28/£120

I suppose I'm a little like your OH - I don't want to rent either, but I'm also a little impatient. Once I've made a decision, that's it - I want to do it straight away. OH & I made the decision to move in together last year, but realistically we'll have to wait until end of this year or beginning of next.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

I can see the logic, but my stance is we've decided we need to live together in our own space, I dont want to wait a year before we can do it
However I know that it makes more financial sense to buy. I too am very impatient! I hate the fact my moving out fund will only increase every 4 weeks when I get paid, rather than every day. Not healthy i'm sure! Feb /make £5 a day Challenge £32.28/£120

See, I'm doing the payment a day and sometimes I add to the house pot instead of the credit cards. Can't wait until Friday - payday. And I've booked the day off to 'wind down' after today's news.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

What is the payment a day? I know I need to pay extra towards my car to pay it off, but I also need to put money away for this deposit, and sometimes I dont know if I should put it all towards the deposit or split it between the two, which will mean delaying the time we can finally move out!
Hope you have a nice day off on Friday, it must be a relief even if you arent 100% happy there

The idea is that if you pay little & often you notice it less.

I suppose at least your monthly payments are relatively low for the car - otherwise it would be a pain when you come to move out & have to pay it on top of a mortgage etc. My OH has a loan outstanding which he is currently overpaying to get paid off by the end of the year - his monthly payments are £405  which would have eaten a massive chunk into our take home each month.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

  I thought mine was too much and they 'very kindly' lowered my payments from £256 per month to £115...which actually meant spreading my payments over a longer period. But yes, at least I would still be able to afford it even with rent/mortgage on top. But at least he's looking to pay it off this year. Even if I overpayed £100 per month I'd still be paying it off for years.Feb /make £5 a day Challenge £32.28/£120
