Glad you're feeling a bit better Becca x

Well, I had to do it. I sneaked on the scales this morning, purely out of curiosity, and i'm shocked to find I have lost 7lbs since Tuesday. Half a stone!! I know it will probably go up and down, and that most of what you lose in the first week of a diet is water, but im ecstatic! OH weighed himself, and he has lost 9lbs! Going to crack out the cross trainer this weekend after last nights programme!!!

Hope you are all doing well xx

  • Hi.
Part-time poster and frequent lurker here.

Just to say , I`ve been watching Paul McKenna since Monday too. I have found the bit about eating consciously(?) soooooooooo good. I normally wolf my meals down but with trying to chew everything 20-ish times (including swede lol) I find that I AM leaving about half of my meal as I have heard my stomach`s voice telling me I`m full.

About 5 years ago I went on my own diet. I took bits of advice from all the diets out there. I had Slimfast for breakfast. I didn`t eat bread or potatoes. I had sweetner in my tea. I only had skimmed milk. I only bought low fat/low sugar foods. I looked at the calories on food packs. In 15 months I lost 10 stone...but I was very fat to begin with lol. Along with many people. I have now put this back on though.

Since Monday I have been back on my old diet. I have followed Paul`s slow eating thing. I haven`t done the tapping for cravings as I have pretty good willpower. I don`t like myself so last nights` ideas about remembering compliments and telling myself I look good won`t do it for me lol. I have also completely cut out alcohol and fizzy drinks-haven`t done that before.

! weighed myself yesterday-well you HAVE to-don`t you lol.

    I have lost 11 pounds!!!!!!

Thank you Paul. Thank you old diet. Sod you alcohol!

i don't know how much weight i've lost yet. i'm going to weigh myself weekly, rather than every two weeks like he recommends, because i need that weekly check in to make sure i'm not slipping off the wagon.

i expect to lose a pound or two when i weigh in on monday. i haven't done any exercise at all because i've been in bed all week. i also haven't really eaten very much because i've had no appetite at all.

You dont seem to have got the message do you? if you obsess about you weight you will fail because where attention goes energy flows. So if all you think about is weight your unconcious mind will help you out in keeping the weight there. The unconcious does not do negative well so tghe more you think I cant eat that the more the unconcious thinks about it until you give in.
Who I am is not important. What I do is.

    Hi all!

I know where you are coming from AB but it's hard to shift the habits, If you stick to the plan and really do eat conciously, therefore less, results will show. Then it may be easier to relax the obsession with weighing oneself.

HH62 - I have started low carbing properly this year, and I have found MacKenna's shows very helpful to run along side this. I am eating less than I would have normally and I believe that a combination of both will achieve the results I want. I don't mind 'missing out' on rice, bread, and spuds as I always end up bloated and wishing I hadn't bothered :D I must add that weight has not been an issue much previously, I just want my clothes to fit properly. But now being at my heaviest has given me something to think about :D

Becca - Hope you are feeling up to full whack soon! I'm only weighing myself every week and hope for good news monday :D

Myleta and Viks, well done! I really do think eating conciously is the answer.

I hope we all go on to get what we can out of this and train ourselves to just eat enough rather than everything in eyesight :j

Rather pleased to have walked the 2 miles back from the Delivery Office today rather than jumping on a bus. Not something I've ever considered before. :D
    Best of luck to all!

Honestly I really haven't got a clue what to do or how to do it...Low carb is winning at present but I know my food bills go through the roof when I'm doing it....
Basically what I'm doing right now is sticking my head in the sand while I decide on a plan :o
And gaining more weight the longer it takes me faffing around !!:rotfl:

Thing is, if you low carb and follow the directions on eating conciously you will eat less, therefore it'l cost less:D

I have found this so far this week. I prepared what I thought I would eat (drumsticks, mayo, cabbage) and left about a third. The day after for tea I prepared less.

Which low carb way are you thinking of taking? I'm doing Dr Dahlqvists method rather than Atkins, It's a bit gentler and easier to stick to. I'll post link if you're interested. I've joined the low carb thread on here and it's fun, supportive and informative.

i think i've got the message perfectly clear. i also don't think that weighing myself weekly will have any bearing on my success at all.

i'm not obsessing about what i eat, and i'm not obsessing about my weight either. i'm learning to accept myself as i am and i'm feeling much more positive about my body. however, i know from experience that when i accept myself as i am and don't keep an eye on my weight regularly, i slip into bad habits and gain weight. especially since this is the first "diet" i've tried where i *haven't* cut anything out of my diet and *haven't* spent all of my time worrying about what i shouldn't be eating.

when i'm healthy, my appetite knows no end - i've spent at least the last 10 or 15 years eating and eating and not even considering whether i'm hungry or not, so until i'm confident that i'm capable of listening to my body telling me that it's full, i will continue to weigh myself weekly.

considering the fact that there are people who weigh themselves daily (or even more often!) when they're dieting, i don't think that weighing once a week is a big deal.
  • Hiya,

Well done to those who have lost weight. I gave it a try this week and I'm down 2lbs which is great for me.

My biggest problem is figuring out when I'm full so I'm not leaving anything on my plate but what I am finding is that I don't need dessert when before I would have then gone on to have something sweet either straight after or slightly later in the evening.

Therefore I assume that I must be making approximately the right portions for me I just don't need two courses.

The best part is that I find I'm not fixating on food nearly as much. If it's there and I feel like eating I'll have some and not worry about it rather than trying to avoid it for a few hours and then having more than I really want because I've spent so long thinking about it.

Good luck with those who intend to stick to it. I also am going to give it a try and see where it takes me.

    Hi all!

Well done Parsley! I too have seen a 3 pound drop this week so that's good. I'm low carbing but really do think that the eating conciously bit has helped significantly. I'm weighing in once a week so for week one Im feeling pretty good. I think that once I can see real differences in how my clothes fit I won't be as bothered about weight.

Becca you seem to be in a good frame of mind there, nice one girlie!

Hope you all have a great start to the new week!
