Paul McKenna "I Can Make You Thin!"

well... I've just finished watching the show (i was a bit behind because I had to watch EastEnders first!). it wasn't a repeat of the original show, but it was very very similar - pretty much the same show, except it was filmed in America.
I noticed today that Sky 3 are showing repeats of the original show, so I've set those to record on V+ too, in case I get annoyed with the American version.
i'm going to give it a go. after all, i've got nothing to lose but weight!0 -
I watched it. It all makes so much sense and is the same as the CD but visual which helps.
I'm going to give it a go and see what happens. I'm going to put it to my Sparkpeople team and see who wants to give it a try to see what happens. Probably can't do it on my own and it would be nice to see if other people can succeed even if I can't.
Glad it's on each day this week as I'd never have the patience to wait a week until the next programme.
The most difficult thing will be eating without the TV on as my husband won't switch it off while eating. (He's not interested in any of this really and thinks it's just a huge con).
Anyway, see what he has to say tomorrow. The emotional eating bit is by far where I am worst.August 08 debt £58544.84, Paid £1668, Dec 08 Total £58236.48
DMP with CCCS £417 per month - Starting 01 Sept 08
Increased to £443 per month Jan 09.0 -
same here, parsley - if i could get a handle on my emotional eating, i don't think i'd have a weight problem at all!!
i'm definitely going to give it my best shot and see what happens!0 -
Thanks LT you are so right.
I had a long look at the shrink yourself site and it does look very interesting. Can't afford the online course but may get the book and see what it says.
Still looking forward to Paul McKenna and seeing what he will do.
BTW you can look at much of the first chapter of this book online for free if you go to Google books and either type in Shrink yourself or Roger Gould. It will give you a flavour of whether this might be any use to you before you have to buy the book.0 -
OH and I are giving this a try. We are on day 2 and quite enjoying it really! We have definitely cut our portions down, we couldn't even finish a slice of cheese on toast yesterday without feeling full. It's nice to not have to think about "diet" food all the time. The only thing that I don't understand is with drinks - obviously drink lots of water but what about coffee/tea/fizzy drinks?
Im going to stick with it for a while, anything beats calorie counting, green/red days and points!0 -
i don't really drink tea/coffee/fizzy drinks, but "naturally thin" people drink those things, so i can't see the harm in having the occasional cup. i tend to steer clear of full sugar fizzy drinks though purely because i don't like thinking about what all the sugar would be doing to my teeth and blood sugar levels, let alone the calories!
a little bit of what you fancy won't hurt0 -
-
that's a good point - artificial sweetners aren't much good for you either! i should have been more clear - i tend to stay away from fizzy drinks full stop, but especially the full sugar ones.
today is Day 4 for me... i'm not really sure how well it's going. i mean, i'm doing my best, but i don't have much of an appetite at the moment because i'm poorly and it hurts to eat, so i don't know if i'm doing well because i don't really want to eat, or because i'm actually doing well!
the test will come when i'm feeling better, i think! i've put all 5 cds on my ipod though, and i've started to use the journal, so i'm at least setting the foundations to give it 100% when i *do* have an appetite.0 -
How's everyone getting on with this?
I've got the book, journal and the 5 CD set, bought it from QVC about two years ago.
I definitely need to lose some weight, and was thinking of doing the low carb thing, but I spend a fortune on food when I do that. So maybe I should give this a real committed try instead.
Hope you're feeling a bit better becca.0 -
i am feeling a bit better, thanks
i went back to work today. i didn't go on the phones at all because i still don't have much of a voice, but i did get up to date on my emails and orders and things, so i'm on a level playing field when i go back in on monday!
i still don't have much of an appetite though, so i'm still not sure how well i'll do when my appetite does pick up.
i think this is more likely to work for me because it's not a "proper" diet. when i go shopping over the weekend, i'm going to buy food that i want to eat, rather than food i think i should eat because i'm on a diet. i want to be healthier anyway, so most of what i buy will be good healthy food, but if i see something that's maybe a bit higher in fat than i would normally go for (and, therefore, higher in taste!) i'll buy it.
tuesday will be the 6th anniversary of my nan's death. usually, i spend the day in bed, crying and throwing things and cursing the world and everyone in it (you'd be forgiven for thinking i haven't completely come to terms with her death... and for thinking i'm a drama queen!) but this year, my boyfriend is taking me out for dinner to try and create a happier tradition than the one i usually go for... if i was on a diet, i'd spend the whole evening worrying about what to order and then i'd spend the rest of the week feeling guilty for not ordering just a side salad without dressing!instead, i'm going to eat what i want, eat consciously, and stop when i'm full.
...that was a very long winded way of saying that i think this might really be the year i become more comfortable with myself and food. ...sorry...0
