  • hi all

Well I am very disappointed in myself....

After just one day I feel like I have failed...

I have been at work today and was late home then had to go to Asda for the food shopping - didn't get home and then finsihed cooking and eat tea until 9.30. I did clean both loos -- does that count.

Ooh and I put the empty bottles that the teenagers fail to see in the recycling.

I think I will aim for a level 1 for each day and try and catch up at the weekend when I am not working, i might just manage this and it would be an improvement on my normal amount of housework.

I will try a M.A.C.A.W will simply be to go to bed by midnight (this is way earlier than I usually manage - seem to cope on about 3 to 4 hours of sleep during the week).

Extras this week - will sort one draw that is stuffed full of papers.
put 3 bags of books away
    Pay cheques into bank
Get/wrap & post presents for very old great aunt and friend's son who is 18.

Will also limit time spent doing competitions as I can waste a whole evening doing them and haven't won anything for ages.

    Sleep well all

Off to do 10 competitions and then put 1 bag of books away and load the WM.

Now.. it's funny you should say that BUT.. there is a fellow flybabe.. Triker.. who had been here ages.. turns out she lives 4 streets up from me!! I walked past Ashia house tonight on the way to college..

Scary amount of activity going on here... I have made some progress with my desk, but not been near the bathroom (I have warned my parents that they have to keep it as clean as it was when they arrived :D ). Kitchen is now a HUGE mess, as the second batch of cakes are cooling ready for icing, or iced and waiting for it to set so they can go in there tins.

DW is on, and at least one more load of cake tins/mixing bowls etc. is waiting to go in. As my 'helpers' aren't leaving until tomorrow lunchtime, I suspect that the kitchen will probably be cleaner than it was when they arrived...

... I've just remembered - I cleaned one window frame and part of the skirting board when we were putting up the curtain pole ... so not bad. Pity the rest of it is covered in cake mixture and icing.

I've got a bit more work tonight. Slow start tomorrow (reflexology at 10, so I'm not going in to work until my afternoon meeting), but I now have to take in: chocolate soured cream cake, chocolate orange cake, cranberry & carrot cake, coconut cake, orange cake, lemon cake, apricot cake, sticky chocolate biscuit squares... I may need help to carry them all!

I've got a big meeting for my team to talk through what needs to be done this year and who wants to take responsibility for what (and then I get to hand out the boring stuff that no one wants to do  ), and then we're going out for a meal in the evening.

Wednesday is an early start (gym @ 7am), with a dentist appointment at 6pm, so a longish day, but Thursday isn't bad, just one middle of the day meeting in Reading, so I'll be based at home most of the day hopefully. Might get something done then...

So hopefully I'll catch you in the morning!

soappie - consensus here is that you were right... you should address them as Field Marshall Soappie or whatever, not sir or ma'am because although they have the title (as with Dr/Mr/Miss/Mrs), they have no authority over you.

toots - good luck for tomorrow. Don't overdo things when you get back.

    vanilla - congratulations

methekidsandthecat - DON'T feel like you've failed. I've done b*gger all today, and I've been working from home (luckily I've got my mum & dad doing stuff instead!). When I'm out of the door at 6.30am and back sometime between 8 and 10, I get nothing done, but thanks to Triker, I've perfected the art of listing in detail the small things, so you've done loads:
    • Cleaned the loo
    • Cleaned the other loo
    • Food shopping done
    • Shopping put away
    • Cooked
    • Recycling sorted
    You may even have
    • cleared the table
    • loaded DW
    • Washed up

Congratulations to all the newbies who are showing the rest of us up :p and ((((((hugs)))))) to those who need them.

Well I am very disappointed in myself....

After just one day I feel like I have failed...

We do NOT allow that word!!!

You have cleaned the loos.. You got the recycling out!!... would you have done that if you weren't a flybaby???

NO??.. well then you have achieved!!

You cannot give up your life for the sake of a list.. everything that you achieve that you wouldn't normally do is a reason to be proud!!
I think I will aim for a level 1 for each day and try and catch up at the weekend when I am not working, i might just manage this and it would be an improvement on my normal amount of housework.

Limiting time comping is probably a good idea.. 10 a day is adequate!! lol

Loading the WM IS an achievement

Putting away some books IS an achievement.

You cannot get your house ship shape in 1 day.. it takes time.. and patience.

Level one for the first week is MORE than enough.. sometimes level one is all any of us can face doing.. don't beat yourself up over it.

((((hugs)))) In a fe weeks your house will be transformed.. stick with us and BELIEVE you can do it..

And write those lazy large lumps that live there a little list each... there is no reason the washing should need doing.. they each have arms and legs and can do some of it.. get cracking the whip!! You are NOT a slave..

    welcome to juliebookworm

ella - god what a !!!!!! day! ill baby and then no hairdo, I'd have been gutted!!

rach (and anyone else who noticed ) sorry about full inbox, need to do a big purge I think! Lots of messages I want to keep, need to copy them off somewhere :)

hey HopeElizzy good to see you

flybabybunting - dont stress about the list. Mt LO is now 16 months, I tried flying at various points over the last year but couldnt manage it and felt horrendous each time, looking back it was ridiculous, the baby was in no routine, needing fed (milk or food) about a hundred times a day with a million nappy changes in between (had 3 yo in nappies then too), and with older ones (then 3 and 4) needing all kinds of attention as well. It will come together in time :)

  • OMG - missed my MACAW bedtime challenge which was 11pm lights out. Well they are, and I'm in bed does that count? Just trying to catch up. But thanks to everyone with all your kind words and motivation. I will try and do some flying tomorrow.
    Good night.
Housework only gets noticed when it's not done.
My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.
Can never keep up with the thread - otherwise I'll never get anything done! But hugs to All :grouphug:
