Thank you to all of you - just reading the replies and realising I'm NOT the only one has made me feel tons better. :D I seem to have this idea that everyone else keeps their house looking fab all the time and think I'm just useless for struggling!

Right...following on from some suggestions, my living room was pretty tidy (you can see right into it from the road outside my house  so that alone is motivation for me to keep it looking okay!!). I just tidied up a few books and bits that were lying around, and I'll Dyson the floor later.

I've decided that I'd like to work on getting my kitchen sorted first, so I've tidied up the right hand side of it and cleaned the worktops down, and I'll do the left hand side in a bit. At least one side of it looks tidy now - but the cupboards are a nightmare - I risk injury every time I open one of them there's that much stuff in there.

Also, yes the paperwork thing is a major issue because it's costing me money in late payment fees etc etc. I'll have to tackle it soon.

I'd better get off the laptop now or I'll get nothing else done - I seem to get distracted from things very easily.

Thanks for the support all of you :A

ARRRGGHHH... my roll has turned into a slow grind!
Never mind, got alot done. Gotta go get DS1 and nephew in half an hour. Think I'll whizz round living room before I go and it MIGHT stand a very small chance of surviving the invasion!

    Oh god...it's bl00dy filing isn't it....

I think I might go and run up and down the stairs...might bring labour on so I don't have to do the filing! Having said that it might not be a bad idea...bet it's warm in the hospital too... difficult to type with gloves on....

right...that's IT! I'm putting the heating on! Just watched the news and it got down to -10 here last night so s*d it.

Nearly there with the bedroom, it was filthy - not like me, I usually prioritise our bedroom but that's what Christmas and being ill does to you.

Half way through an on line Ocado shop. They are giving me £10 off this week so that will bring their prices in line with sainsbury and there are lots of things I want on offer. I'll add a few more bits now and then a last HHC in the bedroom and it will be done.

HH62 - well done on starting - go dyson that floor now girl or you won't do it - go on I'm watching you.

    :A

I started on this thread a good few months ago. This house was an absolute 'sh one t hole' when we moved in. It looked like the lazy mare who lived in it before us hadn't cleaned in all the time she was here. I started on here and found it difficult at first, but now I can get the rooms done quickly because what I tend to do now is tidy as I go so I don't have piles of stuff lying around, and no hotspots (if I see one starting I clear it up immediately!). The main reason is that a year ago when we were moving I had to clean the other house (including wiping walls ) from top to bottom on the last day - on top of packing and moving everything ourselves. Plus I had to clean this house before we could properly inhabit it (the cooker doesn't even bear thinking about:eek:) I nearly had a breakdown it was so stressful - and I'd been put on anti-depressants a few months before because of the stress of our housing situation. I've decided that if I keep the house clean and tidy it will help next time we move because packing shouldn't be as difficult, and the cleaning will be easy as it's kept clean on a weekly basis thanks to this thread and the support you get here.

I clean the cooker top every night after washing up, and I've started cleaning the loo and sink at night - takes a couple of minutes - and tidying up the lounge before I go to bed - takes a few seconds - , cleaning the bath after every use (I clean it after DD2 but I've told DD1 she can do it herself if she has a bath rather than a shower), but it means when it comes to those rooms coming round each week they don't need a major 'do' iyswim.

If you start on level 1 one week, then add level 2 the next etc, then you'll find that eventually going up to level 3 will be easy!

Sometimes I really hate living in London - today is one of those days. Have been told it will cost over £8k :eek:to install new windows - thats on top of the cost of having the b***y things made.

Wanted to find an interior designer just to get some ideas of what I should do re tiling in the main bathroom and furniture in the living room. Have been quoted 10% of the total cost of our renovation :eek:. I don't need any help with that!!!! Urgh, ready to knock the whole thing on the head. Anyway, enough. Will try and catch up with the thread later. Got through a lot of my list so pleased with that.
