Nooo I've just ruined a dressing up dress. It was a fairy one with gold wings and a gold star which are now faded gold as I put them on the normal 40 wash rather than a gentle 40 wash
How stupid do I feel now, I even looked at the label
My trees are coming down today, shame to see them go though!Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Got to work around 11.30 today as had appointment with the orthopaedic consultant at 9.15- the hospital is normally a 15 minute drive and it took me almost an hour today (I left home at 8.20).
I damaged my left knee three years ago, jumping from a boat to the shore in the Broads when mooring up and it has been very painful on and off (more on at the moment LOL). So GP sent me off to see the consultant who had me x-rayed. They want to put a mini-camera into my knee to see what's going on BUT the consultant isn't keen on giving me a general anaesthetic as I have (controlled) high blood pressure and am overweight (OK, totally porky) - JillD, I'll be PMing you to join the weight loss group! I have three months before I see him again, so surely should be able to lose some weight before then???
Johanne - we had a mouse (and rat  ) problem during the summer. We bought "humane" traps and stuck them under the sink after one of the cats trapped a mouse under my bag in the hall and killed another and left it in the hall for us to find. Baited the trap with yummy peanut butter. Found peanut butter gone and trap not tripped! Tried again - no good, so DH got a conventional trap - that did the trick, we caught two beasties but they weren't mice, they were juvenile rats (which is why they were able to nick the bait from the humane traps and not trip them - they were too big for the traps to work.
Then we called in the RatMan from the council - he left poison-baited traps but thought that our visitors were the result of a big extension being built at the house at the bottom of our garden (the garage had been demolished as part of the work - a case of rats leaving the sinking ship, as it were.
So far, no more mice/rats.
However, when we went into the loft to get the Christmas tree and other decorations out, we found LOADS of mouse droppings and the little blighters had also eaten the nuts and dried orange slices that I had hot-glued on to our front door wreath and the Yule candle ring. They'd had a go at the faux holly berries too. Bet they didnt taste too good!
Hopefully this was an old infestation.............. will have to put the cats on "mouse alert" although our three are probably a bit too well-fed!
Now for the list.....

Right DD2 has gone for her nap. Poor girl was complaining in the lounge, I went out there and she'd climbed into her highchair but couldn't get back down! Head is really hurting now so I'm off to find some drugs before I get on in the lounge.Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

right, caught up finally!
mudbath Happy Birthday to your DS on Friday!! I hope your throat/voice is better? Happy DVD Recorder Day!! don't work too hard!!!
pigpen I hope your eye is getting better? My DS bedwet until he was over 10yrs old. It's very stressful for all involved, isn't it? We finally had success from a combo of bladder training and mind programming before he went to bed. we used to give him a star for every dry night and if he could reach 7 he could choose a treat.
ragz sorry to hear about the lack of income, that's stressful. not great weather for gardening though, my allotment's like stone! Great idea with the cereal box!!
hellsbells45 good luck with your cat. very nice tea! what a shiny halo!!:A
Hawthorn sympathy about the CSA. it's considered a swearword in my house!! I'm lucky, I was able to leave the CSA behind at the end of Oct. My ex, if handled delicately will pay a small amount by standing order.Yet we still had no end of trouble with the CSA! So much better now that I don't have to phone them repeatedly.
OddjobKIA sounds like you had a great upbringing, ready for any eventuality. I'm trying to do that with my DS. when he gets back we will be flying together. he is the wind beneath my wings, corny but true! Hope your DD had a good 1st day at school! she looked so smart!!
gerturdeanna sympathy about the clutch/anniversary plans

gsysezz good on you for the smoking education. my DS watched me struggle to quit, and we celebrate my "new life birthday" in Aug every year so he never forgets that it's easier never to start than to quit
