Well at least all that investment is for more than "spending a penny"
Thoughts?
Wait out the next few months for two reasons,
1) Get more competitive quotes because builders will have little work, and,
2) Those in a poor financial state will go under?
Actually, we had a very bad experience of a kitchen fitter going bust partway through the job, parts not made etc not something I'd wish on anyone.
Of course, they all prefer cheques rather than credit card, but, I think in future I'd try to insist on the credit card simply for the cover it gives on defaulting etc, even if they want to charge a 2.5% fee. You could try this on in the competitive market to see what reaction you get, after all, you have the upper hand now, take advantage of it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

You lot are so badddddddd
We will get another quote or two but this builder has done lots of work locally and I realy want someone I trust not just the cheapest quote (in a sweat now cannot believe I just said that!)
I just keep thinking, can we justify spending this money when realistically we could probably pay off mortgage in 8 years if we stay put and did nothing? Aww blooming Martin and money saving makes things so difficult!;)
Perhaps we should just buy a porta loo (aww those 'blue loo' moments spent camping as a child
Quick update another No Spend Day and extra earnings as I worked this evening

There is nothing wrong in the idea of extending the property, it isn't inherently against MSE principles; what you will do however is apply MSE principles to the project via your saving and planning etc to maximise the benefits to be gained whilst minimising total cost to your budget.
Don't "carry on" if it is an issue now, likewise get it done whilst the household need it and you can get people to do so at a good price. We replaced all the windows and doors in 2000 and got excellent quotes from everyone because they all needed the work. Time is on your side during 2009, so get some quotes, bide your time and negotiate. Oh, and "enjoy it" too!0 -
This clearly shows the correlation between posting regularly on here and increased spreadsheet addiction, however, in my opinion it fails to fully show the related increase in determination to pay off the mortgage. Hope this saves you some work Stuart
Gallygirl, sorry I missed this originally :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Oh poop, had to go to the supermarket...spent £16! Wanted to wait until Friday as the car is booked on for a service then so will HAVE to spend money Friday...if I had waited until then for shopping we could have gone hungry but added another NSD!! LOL

Write a pros and cons list - put it away somewhere for least a few days, try to forget about it. Look with fresh eyes and brain to make a considered decision.
Or you could just flip a coin :rotfl:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Flipping a coin could be the answer, I'm not sure where my brain has dissapeared too lately!:rotfl:MFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0
