    Congratulations!!!!

Thank you sml, I know there is no way we can continue at this rate, not least because from next month that £2800 is probably just about what we will be bringing home:rotfl: . But it is a really good start, as long as we can put away an average £1,000 I will be happy, this will allow for any minor crisis, like the new fridge:mad: we need. Although £850 average per month is enough to make an extra 10k of payments/savings, I like to aim higher though:p

If we can continue at say, an over payments of £12,000 per year we could be MF by the time hubby is 40...omg that is so exciting:j Of course this is all dependent on morgage rates staying low for the next 5 years..so it is unlikely:rolleyes: Oh well I can dream

    TPAx

Edit: sad i know, but i've just worked out that we have 65 months until hubby is 40, if interest rates don't go sky high this could be done (being MF that is!), at the moment our savings are earning a higher interest rate than our mortgage (by a fair amount) so if we can contnue like this, saving 'just' £1,000 month would make it 'do-able' That is counting the savings we have made so far and minimal interest rates on mortage (however actual figures - no interest included, we would need to save £825 per month so the £1,000 should cover an interest accrued also..I think lol, mind you this means our morgage rate not going above 2.5% in the next 65 months (currently 1.09%), &/or our savings getting a higher rate of interest than our mortgage...aw figures, my head hurts now! Wheres Stuart with a spread sheet when you need him?

  • Well i'm sure about this secret shopping lark!
Did my first two today and don't think I will get paid for the one and not sure if I should have done the other one, are you sitting comfortably, I will explain!
1st 'secret shop', involved applying for a loan and therefor having a credit check, now as Ihave opened numerous new accounts over the past month or so, I'm not sure it was a good idea as far as my credit rating goes. Anyway other than that I think it went ok but took nearly an hour:eek:

2nd Assignment (just like 007 here!) was to go into a 'phone shop' and assess the staff knowledge etc, well that was ok except to get paid you HAD to get the staff members business card......when Iasked for one she told me I didn't need to have one as I could talk to anyone in the shop when I returned:mad: Was stumpt at that so came away without it:mad:

Oh poo, well other than that not a very exciting day, I phoned council to change my council tax to pay over 12 months not the 10 they always insist on! Better in my account then theirs! Lowers the payments to £117 a month:eek:
    Its offical...I HATE COUNCIL TAX

Stuart where are you with my spread sheets re: my 65 months???:p

Don't worry about that, that is really part of what you are testing. make sure you give a detailed description of the person. If it happens to me I say 'can I have your phone number in case I think of any questions' - that usually prompts them to give their name as well and they scrawl it on a page of the brochure which I then scan in.

That reminds me, I did a shop this morning and haven't keyed in yet

Thats Gallygirl I will remember that line! I just didn't know what to say at the time:mad: I don't think I will get paid though as the first thing the brief said was you MUST get a business card..oh well we live and learn.

  • Its me again!!

Finally completed the other mystery shop, had to wait for the paper work to arrive which it duley did today, so fingers crossed that one will be ok.

Have signed up to two more 'mystery shopping' companies so hopefully I will get some more work from them also...I must be mad!

    No money spent today:j

Did an online comparrison to change Gas/Electricity supplier and they said we could save £698 a year, based on hubbies workings of kw/hrs, however it also said the bill would be £11,987 per year  lol, I think hes got his calculations wrong somewhere, will wait for him to come home and beat him with the dog!!:p

Hope everyones well and money saving!

  • I've got a speadsheet, I've got a spreadsheet, I've got a spreadsheet:p

Hubby made it last night, its got 5 pages! Its for our savings, as between us we have 12 acounts:eek: . I'm hopful it will keep hubby focused to, nothing better than watching your savings grow/mortgage lower!

Need another one now for our spending!

Also got gas/electric usage sorted last night, NPower coming out cheapest, funny that as we changed from them last year to Eon as at the time Eon were doing special offers and came out cheaper. Does ony-one know if NPower have offers on 'TOPCASHBACK' for some reason I am unable log on:mad: , Quidco says 'coming soon'.

Looks like you can get £40 for dual (only it says duel  :rotfl: ) and £20 for single. Both seem to be Topcashback cashback rather than from NPower!

Hmmmmmmm... I must check my utilities too £40 back would cover my fuel bills for ~6 wks!

Thanks for this, thats £10 more than I can find anywhere else.....although I was looking for cashback rather than a medieval bloodied battle! Swords at the ready anyone:eek:

Hubbys phoned to say he's going to get a bonus and a slight payrise in April:j :j , to be honest in this climate we are greatful for a payrise, there are some out there being asked to take a paycut, although I have to say he does do over and above and works many more hours than his basic (with no overtime payments), so it's nice that this has been recognised & ofcourse it means extra money towards the dreaded mortgage!!:T
