We are planning to watch the rugby - It's Wales vs England in the RBS 6 Nations - in our home town -yippee. Romantic red rugby shirts to be worn.
Dinner after (if we can find a table). Will make him his favourite Guinness cake beforehand and have just purchased a 'naughty' prezzie from a site recommended on here.
We are very romantic on a daily basis (been together for 2 and half years after 20 years apart - long story) but feel that Valentine's Day is a good excuse to be even more loved up.

Hope you all have a lovely day if participating.

Looks amazing rainmac, well done!! ...

Popkins where did you buy your maltesers hot chocky? I have been searching and can't find them :( I really want one!
sainburys.but it doesn`t taste like maltesers.its not sweet enough and i havent got a sweet tooth.
  • Thanks for the great advice RustyFlange! I'll definitely check those things out. I like to play it safe with my girlfriend during Valentines. Think I will buy her some nice red roses as well this year. Let's see romantic dinner, flowers and chocolate - all the ingredients to survive
  • I think BF would love to take me somewhere really lovely for dinner etc. To me it is just an excuse to spend lots of money on stuff the week later would be a third of the price. Flowers more expensive, restaurants more expensive and are full of couples with glazed eyes and dribbling at thier partner. No no no, maybe I am a bit young to be Bah Humbug, but it's all an excuse to get money out of us lol! That's why this year I am organising Valentines to make sure my beloved doesn't bankrupt us in the process of making it a special evening. I like to think he loves me everyday! :rotfl:

Dinner - Rump steak (now in freezer), reduced to £3.69 in Mr Ts with veg etc. And we both love butterscotch "angel delight" so i'll make that in heart ramakins so thats about 37p with the cost of milk.
Wine - Got quite a few bottles of bubbly when we moved into our new place so that is sorted. But he likes Mr T bucks fizz which is like £1.80 a bottle.
Entertainment - Prob a film of some kind. BF loves to drive me on top of the downs and look at the stars etc. So if it's a nice evening we might go for a little drive.
Pressies - I'm hoping to make some heart shaped biscuits. He loves anything sweet like that. Seen some lovely ones on this thread! Thank you for the ideas! For Christmas got some lovely choc hearts from a choc shop so might buy a little box of them. I saw all the goodies in our poundland last week so might venture into there later. Get some rose petals and a few silly bits. Hopefully will just stick to those bits, Poundland seem to have a hold over me and make me buy lots of things :o
    And that's it I think...exciting or what!

  • Thank you for all your ideas - I will also keep checking back!

I have to say that I have been rubbish over the last few years with Valentines day and other occassions as I believe it being nice everyday of the year but I want to make an effort this year!

I am going to make heart-shaped krispy treat love hearts, some love vouchers, make a nice dinner - clean the place so it is beautiful and clutter free and have a relaxing evening watching movies (his favourite romcom is how to lose a guy in 10 days!)

A very cheap evening - but it is the thought that counts! As much as I wouldn't say no to a night away it is just a bit overindulgent and we'd rather save the money!

I need to get him to follow the same thrifty style though!
I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever :(
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

help please! I'm currently 38 1/2 week pregnant (baby due day after valentines) and housebound due to back probs and esp now with the icy weather. So whereas I'd normally like to have a mooch around town for some valentines inspiration I cant :(
Its OH's birthday on the 15th feb also so I normally like to arrange a surprise ie weekend away etc but I dont think we'll be going anywhere this year as we'll either have a new born or wont want to risk straying too far from home.
I'm at a total loss. I cant even go into town to choose him a nice card. I'd like to buy him something online but dont know where to start! He's not really into smaltzy stuff though he likes his food. I really wanted to get him a box of krispy kreme doughnuts but cant find anywhere that delivers them :(
Any ideas more than welcome. It's important to us to keep the romancxe alive so dont just want to let it pass - despite the fact that I will have much more pressing things on my mind at the time, I'm sure!

    Hiya Roxie,
Have you any people nearby that could maybe coolect some donuts for you? Is there a certain book he wants. I know amazon have some nice valentines things. Last year I used a site calleed boysstuff.co.uk which had a few manly bits on it. Or maybe make some biscuits etc? Not sure with your back if that's a good idea?

So now I have finally got him back to myself and we have realised we never want to be apart again! Slight problem on what to get him for valentines though, I am so grateful that he is taking me to venice for a long romantic (dirty) weekend so I need to do something extravagant!
