Having been single for the last 7 years, I'm guessing I'll still be single by Valentine's Day
...so no plans for me!
Flissy - how about a heart shaped theme? Go to the effort of baking some heart-shaped biscuits yourself (don''t know if Ikea are still doing heart shaped gingerbread biscuits at 50p packet or if that was just for xmas?), love letters on heart shaped paper, etc.some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
I've posted this reply over on flissy's valentine hamper thread...
Depends what sort of thing you are looking to make but how about...
Bottle wine, couple glasses, box chocs, Lush (or other) bath bomb
Chocolate lovers hamper - fill basket with all different chocs (make sure you include lots of her favourites!!!)
How about planning a day out - doesn't have to be somewhere posh or expensive - maybe a walk followed by a picnic. The hamper gift could include 'clues' to the day you've planned such as a map, flask (for tea/coffee), pack biscuits...
Make your OH a CD of her/your favourite songs.
Night in hamper - bottle wine, bath stuff, chocs, leave the rest up to you to decide...
If she's a reader how about a basket of romantic books (could pick these up 2nd hand at a charity shop/ebay).
List all the things you love about her, cut out so each one is on a seperate slip of paper, fold up and pop them all in a jar or box. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Nothing - call me boring, but I'd be offended if DH did something "special" because it was valentines day - we don't need to be dictated to to tell each other that we love each other. If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

i liek the last comment, i plan to do it the week before, cos it 'still' seems i hve noticed the date etc.0

How about a homemade 'how well do you know me' game? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

I have booked a £12 Travellodge room for Valentines night and have made a little hamper of 'treats' including love dice, handmade soap, sizzix hearts and will add fairy cakes iced with hearts etc etc to take with us. Also, made a 'know your partner' card game for fun. We've been together 17 years but are only early 30's so I like to spice things up abit and have fun on Valentines. It just a good excuse to have a evening to ourselves and get crafty!Stacyl1977:EasterBun0

I've also booked into a travellodge for £9 it's OH's bday sameday so want to make it extra special, planning on a nice meal with a good few drinks, a hamper for the night, some champagne etc etc!! Rainmac your post to the amazon candles and confetti look fab so think I'll order them now, I know I paid a fortune for them last year!:xmassmile Looking forward to December:xmassmile0

travelodge isnt exactly speaking romance
cheap night to ..... etc etc0 -
What speaks romance is all the little extra touches, the nice meal the gifts, on a very tight budget the travellodge will do just fine for us, it's a night away from home and the children. I'm more than happy with our plans!:xmassmile Looking forward to December:xmassmile0
