Hiya Rusty - It was either Tescos or Asda - pretty sure it was Asda actually!
I'm getting really excited about Valentines Day now - although still haven't decided what to do!! I'd kind of like to go out cos we haven't gone out on Valentines for ages but then when I think about going out for dinner I get cross because everywhere charges a fortune and they cram about gazillion tables of two in and then everyone is bumping elbows and really how romantic is that really!!?! I've also told my OH that under no circumstances is he to send me flowers!! He did last year and OMG it was such a rip off - they tend to triple the price at least & tbh I told him if he wants to spend that kind of money on me (doesn't have to!!) then I'd rather have something I can keep - sorry a bit of bah humbug coming out there but I just get mad when they up the prices of things for no reason other than to fleece us all!!
Anyway, keep to-ing and fro-ing between going out to dinner or making dinner at home? Maybe it might be nice to go out for a nice lunch instead as its a Saturday? We don't normally bother too much with valentines but its been quite a tough time the last 6months due to OHs redundancy last year and my health issues so we thought we do something nice - haven't really been out just the two of since he got his new job! Oh I don't know - what is everyone else doing?
Anyway think I might go and start another sock monkey!!0 -

I want to do something but we really can't afford it to be honest. Oh still has no work and we are literally living off the money I earn (I only work 4 hours a week!!!)
I know Marks and spencers is due to do another meal night in thingy which are normally £10 although there was roumers the price may go up a little and include a single red rose but haven't heard anything since, we have a gift card for £20 from OH's ex emplyer which was his christmas present so we might use it to buy one of these meals and have a night inRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

I've said no flowers too as it is a rip off . We aren't going out for Valentine's as OH is working and will be gone until late. As it's his birthday the day before we are going to Pizza Express courtesy of Tesco vouchers with our boys. Not romantic but nice and I don't have to cook:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

You could wrap up warm and go for a nice long walk with your kiddies and then back home for some big mugs of hot chocolate.
How is looking for work going? I imagine it's pretty tough. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

I just posted on the baskets thread ... I realised about 20 mins ago that valentines day was a sat so I am really annoyed as I work sat nights so no valentines for us... my OH said we can celebrate it on the fri or sun though bless him ...
Work is still non existant ... anyone in his trade will be struggling, things were supposed to start coming through in MArch, I just hope they do or there will be no internet, no cars, no food and probably no house!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Aww thats not good - I really hope work picks up for your OH - totally understand as my OH was made redundant in Dec 2007 and then he didn't get any work until Oct 2008!!!! It was a very very stressful and worrying time as due to my health issues I wasn't able to work either (still not fit enough for work) - we were fortunate as we did have some redundancy money but it did run out resulting in us not being able to pay our mortgage so when he did eventually get work in October it was a huge relief although not a total one as he was only able to get contract work - his contract has just been extended to July but after that who knows...
Real shame you've got to work on Valentines night but as your OH says you can celebrate it either Fri or Sun!
Well I think we've decided what we're gonna do - think we've decided to go to the pictures on the Friday and then on the saturday just have a really nice day at home - I'll get nice bits/food for a yummy breakfast and for a lovely dinner, lay the table all nice all that stuff, have a nice relaxing day watching movies - if its not too cold maybe go for a nice walk and OH has said I can choose the movies we watch! ChicFlics here we come! LOL! and then on the Sunday we're gonna head into London (only half hour on train for us) and either go to the Tate Modern or other galleries - gonna look about to see what vouchers I can maybe get - just mooch about really!! It'll be just nice to spend quality time together as he's been working such long hours.
Don't want to spend too much money (that we haven't got!) needlessly! Its all about having a nice time together not how much you spend - all us MSE girlies know that!!! Think all the men are gonna be thrilled with their hampers, they're looking so fab!!
I wish someone would give me one of these lovely valentine hampers - or any lovely hamper LOL!! Or a sock monkey, or a nappy cake (not that I'm having a baby!!) but you know what I mean LOL!!0 -

We aren't doing Valentine's on the day either as OH is away. Maybe you could celebrate Friday and Sunday - your choice of what to do one day and his the other day?
So sorry about OH's work, it's just cr*p isn't it. Can you get him trained in the art of nappy cake making and you could go all out for taking over the market - your cakes are beautiful.
My OH was told 2 weeks after DS2 had been born that his company was folding and he wouldn't be paid that month. 2 years on he's still there and they've just had their best year financially. Doesn't mean I don't worry as things can change so quickly.
Keep your chin up and keep smiling - if only to make people wonder what an earth you've been up too:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
