Hear hear. Large corporation who don't give a toss about the environment, employ kids for crappy wages, and have some very nasty mafia types to jump on anyone who dares to challenge their ethics. The "food" is awful and why parents take their kids to these places is beyond me.

Another thing, why is it that they, burger king and others have totally different i.e. a lot more expensive prices on motorways. Same products aren't they?

i get really stuck when out and about so end up with maccies fries coz there are very few things i can guarantee are wheat and gluten free. the fries are only cooked an dhandled by front counter staff so gfo nowhere near the buns so im ok- so maccies isnt all bad! :)

Didn't McDonalds used to give 5% of profits to 'Noraid' ? Now doesn't this mean that under the new Anti-Terrorist laws that the Goverment has the power to shut down all McD's in the UK?
Have to laugh at a recent reference to McDonald's on "Little Britain" in which Vicky Pollard claimed that a 'star' was earned for "cleaning up !!!!!!" - says a lot about the publics perception of them.
On topic though, I always ask for a drink without ice, as it seems to be their policy to give three quarter measures of soft drinks then top it up with ice (a sly way of watering it down). I nearly always have to hand it back and ask for another. They often take the drink back with a "huff" or a "grunt" as if I'm asking for something really difficult. If you really want to cause them aggro - ask for a receipt ! Even the 5-star employees can't handle it and have to get the manager.

Two reasons. The one they'll admit to is that leasing and rates costs are higher for motorway service units than for others. The one they won't admit to is 'because they can'.

look at teh side of your maccies cup, there is a red line near teh top with a measurement amount next to it, thsi is teh amount of soft drink you are paying for, the extra speace if for ice, so you get a full measure of what you buy plus teh ice.

  • on teh subject of recipets- thats coz a manager has to issue reciepts its company policy.

oh, and stars are achieved by passing OCL's (observational check lists) which involve ten questions plus ten practical demonstartions, each star is worth approx. 7 OCL's. You get them for: chicken side(making all of the deep-fried products, chicken, pies, fillets etc.), grill side (making all burgers and sandwiches), service (serving people and working the complex maccies tills), backroom (all cleaning and stock-related training), and front counter (making drinks, fries etc.) so a 5-star employee is a very well-trained person! a staff trainer has all of this plus an exam taken at teh store, a floor manager has all of this plus an exam taken at the regional training centre and a 2 day course, a shift manager has all of this plus an exam and a three day course taken down in london, etc..... (there are 4 more tiers of managment after that until store manager)

thats why maccies training is thought to be the best in teh world. them crew members work very very hard for very little pay you all shouldnt be so hard on them. when i was a FM (floor manager) i only earned £4.75 and i did 16hr+ shifts as well as college, theres always something to do, if its not serving customers, youre cleaning, stocking up, training people. these kids are rushed off their feet, they stink of chips and for most of teh crew members its not even their full time job! so take it easy on them!

  • Just been to the drive thru for chicken burger and 1/4 pounder but got 2 chicken burgers. Have a ref no to get both meals replaced tommorrow as did not want to go out again tonight. Did have to wait 8 mins for them to answer the phone and I couldn`t check what the receipt said as i didn`t get one! Was money saving as had a bogoff voucher and not too bad as we had salad instead of chips and two bottles of water.

Try signing up to do mystery shopper work for MacDonalds and Burger King. Then when you get bad service or food at least you can put it in your report and know that it will be reported back and the staff/manager won't get the £50 bonus they can get if they get a good mystery shopper report.
And you get the food for free! Makes it all worthwhile!

I was once in a McD's and some smart-@rse guy in a suit came in and ordere a meal and said to the woman on the till after ordering "oh and i suppose you'll get my meal to me in "x" minutes as you are supposed to do" then checked his watch obviously. Guess what? He got his meal damn fast and well before i got mine (i'd been stood waiting for my fillet o'fish when i saw him order)

    To the ex-McD's employees...
    (1) how fast are you supposed to get the food to the customer?
    (2) why is a FishMac called a FishMac on the continent but yet called a fillet o'fish in the Uk. Fishmac rolls of the tongue far better than the poncy "fillet o'fish".
