I put some in my fish pie yesterday to use it up. Lovely!

I love creme fraiche. I use it to make a pasta sauce, warm on a low heat in a pan and stir through some chopped smoked salmon, lots of dill (I use dried) if you have some, lovely with pasta and garlic bread, I like to add a few drops of lemon juice too. Another favourite is fry some bacon cut into slices with some onion and mushrooms and then stir through creme fraiche on a low heat, a bit like carbonara and nice with spaghetti.

Our favourite is the creme fraiche/smoked salmon combo as a filling for gallettes, which are french savoury pancakes (I use the pancake recipe in the bero book, but I substitute the plain flour for buckwheat flour) fill with the creme fraice mixture and roll up. We had it in France on holiday and have been addicted ever since.
  • How about trying dipping strawberries into a bowl of creme fraiche for a fairly healthy snack? naughty but nice :-)

I bought a tub of crème fraîche for a cake recipe and have used very little. There's about 180g left. It's 35%.

It's not something that I usually buy.Can anyone give me vegetarian recipe suggestions?

    Thanks.

I just use it in desserts that call for cream - add a bit of sugar if you feel it needs it. I am sure other will be along with more imaginative suggestions soon! :D

It's great anywhere you would normally use cream or yoghurt. I add some to cooked pasta with grated cheese to make a quick cheese sauce.
