Good morning
First day back at work and I'm alone, where is everyone??
I've forgotten to forward myself my spreadsheet so can't update that, bother!
Here's the list for today...- bought in breakfast and lunch - left over dinner from last night, pea, lemon and parmesan risotto
- do meal plan for next week
- check bank
- recycle one thing, this will be papers from my work pile, work has just bought in huge recycling bins for just about everything
- charge phone
- check phone bill
- do one thing just for fun, not sure what yet, I'll let you know
I'll pop back later, actually, it's so boring here I may not leave

Morning everyone!
Well the biggest thing I need to do today is write my reference for uni! The lady who's doing it for me has asked me to draft something which she will then revise and put her name to (she'd a very busy lady) so I'm going to get on with that first and see what else I can fit in later. Any tips for what to put in a good uni reference (for Midwifery)?!
If I have time I will also
- check banking
- do a tesco shop - stick to list
- clicks and surveys
- free scratchcard
- we have decided to have a takeaway tonight (cheaper than going out) so I'll have a look for any good deals
- check for mystery shops and prepare for the ones I have booked this week
Have a good day everyone!

Morning everyone
Freezing cold here so have had to put the heating on, wearing my cow socks to keep my feet warm!
Today:
Checked online banking, all OK (if a little sparse!)
Transferred £2 to virtual sealed pot, balance is looking really healthy now for my goal
Breakfast from cupboards, lunch from fridge, tea - might not have any as going to the cinema after work so will take snacks from treat box.
Working at PT job this afternoon to earn about £20, but means I also get free tickets for the cinema tonight so effectively another £14 saved.
Free daily scratchcard - 10p only but for some reason another £1 bonus has appeared in my account so have £5.10 already (only started 2 weeks ago)
That's all I think, hoping for another NSD today as can't see what I'd need to buy.
Hope everyone's feeling ok and not too coldy xx0 -
morning all!
Mbaz - good luck writing your reference... no suggestions
could only help if you wanted to be an accountant  don't do it!! :rotfl:
Today I have- checked my banking
- made two loan payments by direct debit, £612.06 off those pesky debts - can't wait til these are gone, what will I do with that £600 a month?!?!
- updated my spreadsheet
- try and be good today and not hit the sales... OH talked me out of a lakeland purchase yesterday, all those things that you didn't know you wanted til you saw them but now can't live without

- eat from stores
- wash on 30 and line dry

Hi all,
As some others have also said, I'd like to thank sophiesmum for starting this thread each day. Makes me feel good to list the things I've done that will help towards my goal of being debt free, however small they are
Today I have:
-Checked online banking and updated sig
-Looked for surveys/piggyclicks - none
I will:
-Aim for a NSD
-Clean out house - look for stuff to ebay/amazon
-Take amazon parcel to post office (if it's open today)
-Sort out a shopping list for big monthly shop to be done tomorrow
-Take down deccies and cut up Christmas cards for next years gift tags
-Prepare storecupboard meals
And that's it for today I think x0 -
- Going to work

- Did three loads of ironing
- Bought lint brush to maintain my clothes
- Gave away a third of my fabric stash on freecycle (good karma)
- Ate at home, breakfast and lunch
- Done a ridiculous amount of housework. Fed up with it. My landlady can do some for once in her life.
£1600 overdraft
£100 Christmas Fund0 - Going to work

Morning everyone, love the quote in your signature sophiesmum, that's what I am aiming for in 2009!

Will not be a low spend day today for me as I have to spend £425 on an annual travel pass, eek. I really have to get this as it goes up by £25 at the weekend (grr) and a monthly pass is about £55 so it does work out at a good saving overall, just seems an awful lot of money. Of course, people in London probably are thinking "I pay that in a month", good old public transport!
Apart from that we were going to take my nephew to Pizza Hut but have since realised the 50% off voucher someone posted on the MSE freebies board is not valid until Monday. Trust me to read better in future, he is excited about going so think we will go anyway for a treat.
Apart from that I have a load of thankyou cards to write for friends who have been lovely in 2008, they were only 29p each from Home Bargain but they are lovely and my friends will really appreciate the sentiment.
Apart from that
I don't intent on spending anything and really want to get around to doing my "file of challenges/things to achieve in 2009" file. I really need to get organised, where has the week gone? Back to work on Monday. Sigh.
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Morning all
Mbaz - 'Any tips for what to put in a good uni reference (for Midwifery)?!'
Good interpersonal skills, excellent with people of all genders/cultures - good team worker, great at taking control in situations which need it, um - thinking on feet here - display excellent communication and empathy - can focus quickly on the task at hand and assess needs of individual - make most of the fact that you are a caring and people person but can focus in a crisis and at task in hand - dedicated and hard working - um like the challenge that the job will bring - responsible and reliable, can show respect and empathy towards the values and needs of others? No idea really - if you want ot be a midwife I think thats amazing and therefore you must be a really special person that is great with people, responsible, responsive, thoughtful and caring - well thats my two pennyworth!
Onwards and good luck. and remember you are good at maintaining and managaing money and budgets!!
